I have used Infoserve for 3 Years now and I have found them to be very good. I have Yahoo Listings for two of my companies and deal with one member of staff and I find her very helpful and honest. I was quite surprised when I read these comments. I would consider myself to be quite assertive and as a business man in this economic climate I cant throw good money at just any method of marketing. I get a good return on my investment as my adverts show my company details and there is no middleman. I have used Business Directories in the past but found I did not get a good return. I was offered City Visitor by my account adviser at Infoserve but did not feel that another business directory would be beneficial for my industry as there was far too much competition, she did not use pressure sales and just accepted that i know my business better. I now use Google adwords and Yahoo and I feel that is as far as i need to go with regard to advertising for now.
Any companies thinking about speaking to Infoserve regarding Yahoo, I would strongly recomend too. Depending on your industry obviously. I researched the traffic through Yahoo and Google for my Industry and as my service is heavily searched online and I depend on local business I initially gave yahoo a go for 6 months. It has definately paid off and my renewals are always at my initial discounted rate. Never increased.
I came on here to complain about my broadband user, however any large company will always have some negative feedback as you cant please everyone. I was just unlucky with bull dog!
infoserve
i worked for this company and i left because to be honest i do not want to be associated with it.
The place is run by management that insist you rip people off at any opportunity, management team includes a convicted fraudster who has served time for ripping off a solicitors!!!!!
staff are in fear of their jobs, making up statistics to give potential clients which simply dont tally up.
we were encouraged to charge "as much as we could get" for listings on Google and yahoo. there was a renewals team who basicly spent all day calling up customers to renew listings ( some were not due) and charge at least £100 more than the original price ( check your receipts).
another member of staff has just left the company after keeping credit card details and putting a sale through more than once !!!!
no checks are made on the staff and the overall policy is to get as much as possible !!!
There is no customer care and the decent staff have left as they do not want to be involved in fraud, please stay away from this company as either a customer or as a member of staff
Got a renewal call from infoserve for my YahooLocal advert. I was going to cancel but the sales guy gave me the impression figures for the previous 3 months were in the high hundreds which was better than I thought it was, but after being offered an instant 75% reduction in price I decided to renew but after the phone call I checked the impression figures sent over for the previous 6 months & to my disappointment found the figures were about 10 times lower than I was quoted by the sales rep. I rang back the same day to cancel the agreement but they flat out refused saying that there is no cooling off period for businesses & that they had done nothing wrong according to their terms & conditions.
I have spoken to Trading Standards about the issue & they advised me that they had breached "The Business Protection from Misleading Marketing Regulations 2008" & that because the call was not recorded (which would have proved the sales person's huge exaggeration of the impressions figures thus leading me to agree the renewal) that there is no proof of contract & if in the worse case senario that they still refused to cancel the contract that the small claims court would always fall on my side in this issue due to the burden of proof laying with infoserve & if they did suddenly find the call recording to prove the contract it would also prove the mis-selling. Armed with this helpful information, I have written to infoserve & am currently awaiting their response.
