ATTENTION EVERYONE!! plz listen i am 13 yrs old and i have been effected by this company, jamster. they have recently sent me adds on my mobile about free ringtones they take off $6.40 every time they send u that message whether u accept the ringtones or not. i was not allowed to get no more credit and am being blamed for something i did not do now my parents actually believe me though. if this does not stop this company will be SHUT DOWN completely. dont ever ever get ringtones off anyone unless ur willing to buy a new phone every 2 days!

dear all

i can fully understand your frustrations with this company. it seems that they will make money regardless of what age, gender, etc etc. if these comments are true, then what a disgrace.

tell me, have any of you tried to reply to jamsters text message, by simply texting 'stop'??

most companies similar to this allow you to do this. if they don't act upon your request to stop the receipt of such 'spam', may i suggest a complaint to trading standards or the office of fair trading?

when you order anything from a company, they must make it absolutely clear that you will receive text messages, especially if they're going to charge your receipt of them to your calling credit or your mobile bill. with jamster, they can't legally enforce you to coninue with the receipt of such messages as you don't sign a contract with them, therefore you should lodge a complaint to your local citizens advice bureau, trading standards, etc etc.

best of luck to you all.

i am disgusted with jamster. how dare they! i ordered the shakira - hips dont lie ringtone, thinking it would be £1, and i'd be able to stop the texts. next thing i knew i had the ringtone which wasnt even complete, i had had £4.12 taken off me recieving texts from them every 5 minutes! i am left with no ringtone (well, half a ringtone) and no credit. never ever ever ever get anything from jamster! i really want their e-mail address so that i can tell them how annoyed i am.

Me to, scum bags. I have been receiving there texts for months. I dont even want to think how much it cost. Probably worth complaining to the following:

Office of Fair Trading
http://www.oft.gov.uk/default.htm

Advertising Standards
http://www.asa.org.uk/asa/

You're MP

I dont see much point in ICSTIS as they are funded by the industry, or OFCOM as they are drones and have no detectable brain activity.

 shazz at 2nd Jul 2005, 12:39PM
I too have been ripped off by Jamster, who ran up my mobile bill with reverse-charge texts after I downloaded one ringtone.

Other people in the same position can read an article on the BBC on this company by cutting and pasting the link below.

In my humble opinion Jamster is public enemy No 1. What an awful company. The amount of problems it has caused people is simply staggering, and there should be some sort of a watchdog to combat this kind of Nazi advertising. I have just texted STOP ALL to 88888 and recieved a text saying all services to Jamster have ceased...well we shall see.
Once again, awful company that should be ashamed.
all the best

I did text to recieve a ringtone off jamster which i did not receive but it took the £3 from me. Then i texted 'stop' to that number and they sent me a message to conforim they had cancelled it. i have further since received messages and when i do receive them it takes £3 each time this is adding up!! i phoned the help number and after some 'call centre boy', telling me that i had not texted stop, i told him well i still have the messages that prove they had supposdely cancelled he then offered to refund me by puting it into my account and asked for my account details, this worreid me as i dont trust them anyway never mind to give them my account details! has anyone else received this form of refund from jamster?

 angryangryjen at 31st May 2005, 10:04AM
In light of the recent lawsuit filed against Jamster, they have claimed in the press that they never offered a free ringtone or wallpaper on television and made their terms clear.

If anyone has a copy of a commercial that aired in the USA or UK from Jamster that mentions the word free either in the text or voiceover portion of the commercial, I'd like a copy and would be happy to pay for it.

Please email me at khmoles@cox.net

THANKS!!

This is the number to call for anyone wishing to get a refund back from 'Jamster' for products sent to your mobile phone that you have not ordered. 0870 121 3186 then press 0.

Over the past 12 months or-so I have been receiving text's from these people every week, sometimes even twice a week.

It was only on Sunday that I discovered that everytime I was getting one message it was costing me 3.00 pound, two messages 6.00 pound.

I have never ordered these products from 'jamster' and always deleted them when they were sent to me.

I discovered the above number on Grumbletext, so I called them on Sunday, spoke to a nice enough guy called 'ivor' I explained to him that this has been going on over a 12 month period.
He asked for my mobile number, checked on the computer and he agreed that I had never ordered or opened any of these messages sent to my mobile.

He then calculated (WAIT FOR IT) That over a 12
month period they had taken "265 POUNDS WORTH OF CREDIT" from my phone !!
He seemed very fair and said it was a good job I had called and would cancel anymore messages. He also said that they would give me a FULL REFUND either in cheque form or credit to my bank (I choose a cheque, jamster getting my account number)??

So they will give a refund and can be contacted on the above number.

Hope this is of help..

Jamster's helpline number is 0870 121 7397. I don't know how useful this is though!

I am 14 years old and i am disgusted at the amount of credit i have to put on my phone because of this company! i buy credit every couple of weeks, and everytime i top up my account i recieve a txt message that sneakly doesnt say who it is off and so therefore i open it and it takes at the least £3.00 of my credit! i would like to claim all the money back that this company has taken off my phone credit. but i dont see that this is going to happen! i just would like no more txt messages from Jamster sent to my phone!

 sloppy1 at 21st May 2005, 09:01AM
This company took money off my daughters phone as someone had registered her number twice on the jamster site without her knowledge. After texting 'stop'and still being stung we emailed them and asked them to remove her number and permanently block it from being re-registered and also to reimburse the money they had taken without her permission. They mailed back asking for her bank details but dont know whether to trust them with such information yet. No more texts from Jamster so far.

 lewisvale at 20th May 2005, 04:46PM
Jamster is a company that is scamming people out of their calling credit. I will only get text messages from them when i have some credit on my phone. I put five punds on my phone yesterday and today i got three messages from Jamster (8888) which slashed my credit down to 16p. This is a p**s take, not stopping these messages and by ignoring all communications from customers telling them to cease the charges via text.
I WILL be taking this further into legal action if they do not stop and i think that thousands of others will agree.

 skandall at 20th May 2005, 11:53AM
i visited the jamster website and asked for a free ringtone. since then i have received hundreds of texts sayin, jamster :free tones text such a number... etc, they steal all my credit,i top up and have £10 and after sending like 3 texts, it says i have no money and i receive texts off them its no coincidence, this is so irritating and im sure is illegal.no wonder those infuriating crazy frog ads are played over and over, they have the money (OUR MONEY) to afford the costs!!!!!!! HELP!!

 bowie04 at 19th May 2005, 02:25PM
I want my money back you promised me a free ringtone, and i emphasize the free part, first you charge me for the apparant free tone and now you keep taking money off my phone everytime i put credit on, and you did the same to my boyfriend, you took £5 4 times off me and £40 in total off my boyfriend's phone. And to top it all off the ringtone was crap, pure crap.I suggest that you get in contact with me via email and not text and remove my mobile number and all my other details from your mailing list. If any more money is taken from my account i am going to take futher action. My email address is: becci_coates_15@hotmail.com

 becki_coates at 18th May 2005, 01:01PM

 farty bart at 15th May 2005, 08:43PM
i have lost £20 in the last 3 month after requesting for 2 ringtones and on two separate occasions and they kept on sending lotsa of texts to me and they cost me about £3.00 each i tried to stop and it did not work that cost me £3.00 i text stop about 15 times to stop alot of the text came when my phone was switched off for a few days so when i turned it on my total credit was wiped out in minutes as i was unable to stop also my dad got hit during the night!!!!!

 farty bart at 15th May 2005, 08:39PM
My daughter of 14yrs old, ordered one ringtone off a website of which she can not remember the name of or even subscribing too. I topped up her phone two days ago with £10, she now has £4 left, her credit was decreased when she recieved text messages informing her of new ringtones. She has become increasingly worried that her credit will decrease even more and has stopped using her phone. As she does not remember what website it is we cant do anything to stop it.
I also had problems with jamster earlier in the year when i ordered a ringtone from them. £14 was deducted from my credit just because i opened text messages. They have since stopped but i did not recieve any refund for my loss.
