Hmmm SkillsTrain with its dubious amount of AKA's.

I had the misfortune of signing up with them.
I got put on and sent not the course I was supposed to be doing.
The material arrived late and is infact outdated.

I was supposed to be on the C#.net course instead then send me a CIW course which incidentaly encourages the use of tables instead of CSS & XHTML.

When I aproached them about it I received pure hstility as well as having all my letters (which I was told to send) ignored.

Now their nicely connected finance company, career development finance (who convenienlty reside on the same road / street) are informing me I will have to pay as they have already paid the full amount to skillstrain AKA Scheidegger.

So I am deep in battle with them as I try to recover my money plus all charges I have issued to them as a result of chasing them.

I too have started having doubts about the £2000+ I have paid to obtain a Web Design Management qualification which I was advised "was equivalent to a degree". The course material is still dated 2001 and does not even mention Windows XP, the tutors never contact me and when I ask them a related question I get told "This will be covered later in the course".
I have also discovered that the course is not even academically credited on open university.
I have learned more about web design from attending 2 evening classes, each costing in the region of £100. Has anyone else had luck getting a refund??

Read with interest a thread (forums.designtechnica.com) after putting in a "scheidegger complaints" into google. I did this because after 2 years I am just over halfway through my course. My 2 written Perl assignments (11A and B) were returned with 100% success. I knew there were mistakes in my scripts and these were ignored. I had requested help when doing these assessments and your tutors sent me the answers. What's more, some of the answers were WRONG!! I have complained in the past and had little satisfaction. My biggest gripes;

You still have to save TMAs onto a floppy!! It is prehistoric!

The Web Design course still teaches 'frames' even though the W3C strongly advise against using them. Making a web site with frames could make it not accessible and you can be sued now!

The Web Design course should be teaching XHTML, not HTML.

I have been most dissatisfied with the course but with the money I'm spending I want a certificate by the end.

Scheidegger is a company that offers you a course promising you to be trained to industry standard & professionally certified in the computing/networking industry upon completion, using all the latest resources. My course I started in 2004, was copyrighted in 2001. All of the work referred to windows 3.1, 95 & 98 - Not a mention of XP. With the fastest processor 1GHz. This is as well as finding out I had to pay for the certification exams (A+) yourself. But you get certified from their course...?
