I was contacted by this company in 2004 about a service they were selling called Rapid Rank. During the original sales call the call handler, (I have his name but I am not allowed to post it), said to me that within 72 hours all of my 10 key phrases for my new domain would be on the top page of all of the search engines they deal with including Yahoo. Also the call handler made no mention of there terms & conditions or any binding contract. I stupidly decided to give them a try and then after 72 hours when I realised that what the call handler had promised me had not happened I called them to complain and was told that I was not allowed to talk to the original call handler. I wrote to them cancelling the service, stating that I had been mislead by the call handler and that I required a recording of the call. They wrote back refusing to cancel it offering me 3 months service for free instead which I declined. They continued to charge my card for several months and when my credit card expired they managed to continue charging my new card without my authorisation, I can only presume they guessed the new expiry date!! I called them numerous times and wrote to them twice asking for a full refund and had no response. I had to eventually cancel my card so they could not take any more money without my authorisation. I wrote to them asking them for the money back and did not get a reply. After that I did not hear from them for about 2 years, they then contacted me again asking for several hundred pounds in fees they claimed I owed them. This time I wrote to them explaining that I had cancelled the service and that they actually owed me money and that I at no time agreed to there terms and conditions of sale or contract offer and to send me by registered delivery proof of any contract I hold with them or a recording of the original sales call, I then sent this letter by Royal Mail special delivery. I did not hear anything back from them until late 2007 when Blacks Collection’s called me on behalf of Iomart again requesting I paid this claimed debt. I told that I did not owe them anything and they would have to take me to court and then today I got another call from Black's warning me of impending court action. I have copies of all the correspondence with Iomart so I would like to see what proof they have that I owe them anything. I also called trading standards in Glasgow and was told that they receive numerous calls complaining about this company. If you do a google search on 'Iomart' you will find numerous complaints and even websites dedicated to helping 'victims of Iomart'. I would advise anybody who wants to use this company to read what others have to say about them. Also remember that businesses are not protected in the same way consumers are and some companies take full advantage of this fact.

Hi Graeme.h
I have located your account and will try to contact yourself to discuss the matter further. Just from a brief look over your account it would seem that some 15 months after taking your account out (and over 3 months past the first renewal date of your subscription) you were using your control panel to request changes to your account with no reference to cancellation of the account at any time before that date or in your communication to us on that date. And the upgrade that you talk about actually happened only 6 months after taking out your initial package which would suggest that you were happy with things at that point.

Hopefully we will be able to clear things for you and I look forward to talking to you.

Hi Pasha,
I have not been able to locate your account on our system from the very brief information that you have given. Please contact me in order that we can take a closer look at your account in order to review things for you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I've recently been contacted by a company called Black's Collections chasing invoices from 2004 onwards. My dealings with iomart ended at this time. I called them to cancel, which they seemed to decide actual means I wanted to upgrade and I now owe them £400!! Iomart are an absolute disgrace. What I can't understand is why a collections company would want to act for a company which as such a terrible reputation for issuing inappropriate invoices. They either haven't done their research or are just as bad.

 graeme.h at 19th Nov 2007, 03:05PM
I had a call from them in 2004 and they offered me their services and a web name please note I was very specific about the requirements of the web name and agreed one with tgem. When paperwork arived it had a different web name on wich I imedeatly rejected only to told the other name had gone and the got me the other one instead. This name is of no use to me and I refused it both verbally and in writing and cancelled any deaings with them. I have now been sent final demand for over £400 !! they have refused to accept their error and still hold me responsible.. all i ask is .... if I order a 3 bedroom house and when I turn up i get a 2 bed house who has brken the contract not the buyer the supplier is that not true? so why am i hounded for this money? I have never accessed the site or updated the site at all I have not touched it from theday they set it up! That its self was so poor I am amazed they remain in business...so many errors and mistakes that remained there as I had no need or desire to alter them as it is their site not mine! Today a collection agency has offred me a settlement figure "for your peace of mind and to give you closure madam" so long as i pay today, what a load of rubbish I need no closure I have no contract as the goods they supplied were not as agreed. Next stop Watchdog guys? I am with you all the way.

Hello all.

We were approached by Iomart about two years ago. They claimed our website wasn't listed in the search engines. So the sales guy asked us what keywords our customers would use to find us. So we gave him a long list.
We were then told they would set up a website for our most popular keyword and make that site #1 on google, msn, yahoo etc. Being nieve, we went ahead with our purchase.

We looked at our web rank later that evening on google, yahoo and msn we were ranked #2! The next day we telephoned them and said they had lied about our webrank. But they declided to comment.

We were also told when the guy phoned us that we would be charged £450 (including vat). Though a few days later we received a letter from the bank saying we were overdrawn by £550! And guess who that money went to? Yes Iomart!

After 20/30 phone calls, 20 letters they still refused to refund our money back.
To this day we still receive invoices from them, as well as around 30 sales phone calls every few months. We reported them to our bank, but they were unable to retreive our money.

Do not deal with this company, they're the worst company I've ever dealt with!!!

Updated 7-11-07:
Now we have received two letters from their debt collector wanting £329 for services we cancelled years ago! This is simply not on, why do companies like Iomart have to treat their customers this way? The funny story to this is, it is Iomart that owe me not the other way around. We tried for many many months to get our money back from this company, but only received £100 from them. I now intend on adding up all the fees they have debitted from my account and forwarding the case onto the small claims court. Iomart simply should not be allowed to trade.
We are all in business for one reason, to earn a living and have a good life. They are simply earning their living and knocking everyone off the ladder at the same time.

Empiremonkey, it sounds like you have an Easyspace account and not a UFindUs or Customer Street account. I am surprised about your comments about the Easyspace team but if you contact me directly at ad@customerstreet.com I will make sure that Easyspace give you a call back with a view to helping sort things out. I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi keirajc,
Thanks for taking the time to put your positive posting about Customer Street and UFindUs on here. I don’t propose that we will be able to sort out every case as easily as yours but I can promise that we will do our best to reach a fair resolution.

Being able to reach an agreement about an account will obviously require the cooperation on the part of the customer. Very often the reason behind customers saying they have been unable to resolve issues is because they have not been prepared to accept that their view on some things may not be correct. If customers refuse to talk to us we really don’t have much hope of being able to sort things out.

If anyone wants to contact Customer Street and UFindUs to discuss their case with our Customer Support Team then they can do so on 0845 338 0500.

To all you out there that are having problems. I left a message here a few days ago, where i was to receive a final call from Iomart b4 i was passed over to a debt recovery company. I got in contact with Graham Armstrong (who has posted here in Iomarts defence). He called me the following day after looking into my account with them and, credit where credit is due, realised my circumstances & cleared my account. Now im not saying that he has the ability to do this in all situations, but i am saying that he is a very fair man (the only 1 in the company from my previous experiences) & will do all he can to sort out your complaints. I hope this helps & good luck all

 keirajc at 29th Oct 2007, 08:51PM
I too am in the same boat. I wrote to easyspace in Nov 05 cancelling one of my account. The following month, no money was taken from my credit card so i assumed all was ok. In May 07, i got a call saying i owed them over £300. I told them it was cancelled in Nov 05 and sent them a copy of my original letter. They claim they never received it in Nov 05 and even claimed that i had just type this letter to cover myself. After many phone calls and discussions, the calls from easynet stopped, so i assumed that they had realised their mistake.

Low and behold, shortly after i had (now mistakenly) renewed some other domains and services i have with them, they are one the phone again saying i now owe nealry £400. The person i spoke to in May 07 has left the compnay and surprise, surprise, they do not have any of my letters or corespondance.

I am shocked at how rude and aggressive the people are there. I have tried to speak to some kind of account manager or customer services and i am left on hold for an age before eventually being cut off.

Even though I have sent then copies of all the letters and emails if have sent and received, they are threatening to pass the debt to a collection agency.

They are charging me for service on ufindus.com, be if i try and search for my company, it is not even listed !!!!!!!

 empiremonkey at 27th Oct 2007, 07:23AM
Guys, i feel ashamed to be adding my name to this list. But apparently, ive been done aswell. No point typing a long letter as you guys have pretty much summed it all up.
Poor service, no communication, chased for money yrs down the line. In fact i get my final call tomorrow at 12pm. Then my ridiculously inflated farce £800 bill gets passed over to a debt recovery agency. Im the same as you all. Tried everything but eventually got sick of banging my head against the wall & cancelled my dd. Does anybody know what happens next re the debt recovery agency cos the last thing i need is this joke company giving me a bad credit rating because of their poorly run company. Also, does anybody know what is the best route for claiming compensation. I mean, i was told when i took the package that they would organise Bt to install a phone line. I NEVER EVEN GOT A BT line but i still got charged monthly. The annoying part is, even if you do manage to get through to them, they still dont do anything about your complaint. Wish id never taken that call......!

Just getting into the bad experience after 3 years of thinking it was over. There would be no use adding comments that only repeat everything said about this company. It's time everyone got together to try to get this stopped. Is there anyone else totally fed up of the threats they hand out. Any takers

 keirajc at 23rd Oct 2007, 06:18PM
Hi petejoiner,
I have now been able to locate your account. You contacted us to raise a case for our support team on 4th October, and we tried several times to contact you without success which resulted in Melanie sending you an email at 1.50pm that day asking you to contact us again which resulted in contact with you within 20 minutes and further contact from Melanie on Friday 5th.

Your invoices were sent out in July and these are all readily accessible through your online control panel, a service that is provided for every customer inline with the policy of many other similar companies. At the time of writing this posting Melanie had promised that an agent would give you a call back in respect of cancelling your account, which you duly received on Monday lunchtime (bearing in mind you posted to blagger late on Friday night).

The only dealings I can see with Jacqui were with regards to an issue of uploading pictures to your site. I have listened to the calls relating to this and can confirm that this same issue was successfully dealt with by Jacqui in May this year, and after both conversations with her you seem to have fully understood how to do this.
It is my opinion that there is nothing wrong with the level of service we have provided for you and your questions have been answered promptly and effectively and I am uncertain of what it is that you are really finding fault with.

Hi Mart Victim, from the sounds of your comment it is a good number of years since you had any dealings with ourselves. I am sure that you will have seen that there have been a great deal of beneficial changes over the last 18 months and we have changed our terms and conditions to make sure that we now exceed our obligations to our customers. It is a shame that you feel the need to try to influence other people by making comments that are no longer relevant.

Hi Robert, I think I have been able to identify your account and it seems that you didn’t cancel in 2004 but after discussion decided to continue with an upgrade on your account. Since then we have spoken to you many times to try to sort the matter out but without success.

I, like many others cancelled my contract with Iomart alias Ufindus in 2004 and I have today received a letter from a debt collector requesting payment for invoices up to January 2007. Who do they think they are kidding?
There is no way I will be paying. I will take them all the way

 roberthastings at 18th Oct 2007, 08:51PM
We signed up with Iomart in 2004 with the promise of a first page Google listing for our website. What actually happened was that they copied a few bits form the front page of our site and produced a crude new site under a new domain name which was completely irrelevant to what we were sold. After numerous attempts to get through to customer services we finally managed to get the whole thing cancelled, and wrote off the initial payment we made to them to experience. I came into the office this morning, nearly three years later, to find a notice from a debt collection agency demanding we pay £609.44 in unpaid charges, for a service which was a) totrally unnacceptable and utterly substandard in the first place b) Cancelled in 2004.

Unbeleivable!...four and a half years down the line and I see this company are still at it
When they contacted me they promised me everything..and to quote them a proper site I got..a generic template based page that looked like it had been written by an 8 year old chimp!
I rang and complained and was told by someone who had risen to the dizzy heights of a 'team leader' (wow!) if I thought they were, how can I put this..not exactly generous when it comes to honestly...it was my fault and I shouldnt have agreed to anything in the first place (customer service at its best!!)
It took three months to get my money back off of Iomart (or whatever they have reinvented themselves to be this month)
They are so bad theres even a support group for their victims...dont touch them!

 MartVictim at 4th Oct 2007, 11:29PM
Hi mooncrystal,
To put this posting in context, Customer Street is one of 1700 UK businesses featured on this site including some of the UK’s top brands such as Tesco, Barclays and almost every large company you have heard of. Being featured does not imply that the person making the posting is correct or that they are portraying an accurate description of their experience with UFindUs.

Without knowing who you are it is difficult to comment on your own case but I am confident that if your account has now been closed then you will have dealt with someone within our support department who will have guided you through the process to close your account down and will have dealt with any issues you felt you may have had at the time.

Wow! I haven't read the whole of this thread, but quite a lot of it, and would like to add my disgust with this company. Very similar story to lots of others - I was stalked by various members of their staff, and given the big sell, and they just keep taking money for nothing.

I've cancelled my services with them now, but have paid them quite a bit over the last couple of years, and, having read this, will take steps to get something back if I can!

I just want to warn readers that this company is now called Customerstreet. So beware if you get a cold call from Customerstreet it is the same dodgy company.

Hi WebDeveloper!

I would absolutely love to know what domain name your talking about as I am positive theres a much less sordid/sinister explanation for the reminder which your mothers company received.

The honest truth is that if we have your mothers company details on our system then they have been provided to us by her, or a representative acting on behalf of the company.

If you have indeed passed it along to Nominet then I am sure we will hear from them and straighten it out from there - if you wish to get in touch with me directly to resolve this issue please feel free to do so.

Without Prejudice

My mother's company receives an email informing her that her domain name is about to expire. Fishy, because we've never registered any of our domains with IOMart or IOMart Hosting. We're with SCHLUND and although they're a little lax at times, they're not outright villains and you get a pretty good feature set.

Anyhoot, do you know what strategy IOMart have employed? They've self-registered a similar-ish domain name and then performed a simple http redirect to our own domain name. And then they try and re-bill us for something we've never purchased.

Funniest and most incompetent part of their ridiculuous smoke-screeen is that they've misspelled 'co.uk' in their redirect page and have forgotten the final 'k' so that you just get a page not found error.

This company should not be trading. It's plain fraud to pretend that they're our domain provider. Furthermore, they have all of my mother's company details on their computers. This is data protection infringement at the least.

When I showed that I had some knowledge of DNS etc. and informed them that their registrant and nameserver records were completely different to the official WHOIS database, the receptionist changed her tune and simply said "oh, don't worry - just forget about it all then."

I've already passed this on to Nominet and I intend to report it to the OFT, ASA and Trade and Standards.

Beware all.
