In Nov 09 I was trying to buy 2 hard drives as gifts. I tried several online companies who all rejected my card. The card had a limit well in excess of £5k with only about £500 on it so I have no idea why it would be rejected. When I received my January statement I saw my card had been debited with £141.43 by Savapoint 4 weeks after the transaction had been rejected. They had been one of the companies who rejected the card but were the only one who then took the money. I contacted my card provider who gave me a contact number. When I spoke to Savapoint in Burton-on-Trent I talked to a helpful man who said the card was rejected because they required more proof of address and a credit check before sending out goods (this hasn't stopped them letting me buy stuff in the past) and said many other electronic companies do the same. This explains, I suppose, why the transactions were rejected but not why Savapoint went ahead and took the money and took it 4 weeks later. He asked me for the order number - obviously there wasn't one as the order had been rejected and no goods were received. So I couldn't provide one. He then tracked down the 'transaction' and saw the credit with no transaction number attached as no goods had been ordered or sent out. But I couldn't have my money back! I had to 'prove to them that the debit had gone through'! A print-off of my (online credit card bill) was not sufficient as I could have (apparently) faked one to get money! So I got his name and address, contacted my card company, paid a £4 fee to get a paper copy from them and posted it to him late January. I heard nothing and my next 2 credit card bills had no credit from Savapoint on them. I contacted the 'same' man in early March - but it was not the same person, I suspect they use a generic name for anyone with any financial complaints, this 2nd guy had a completely different accent. He was incredibly rude and patronising, suggested I had bad credit and was trying to cheat Savapoint. Funnily enough they 'had not received' the letter and copy statement. It was my responsibility to again get a copy statement and send it to them despite the fact he could see the transaction, my details and no order number attached to it. I was very upset by the time I got off the phone. So I paid out for another £4 copy statement and sent this with a letter by Recorded Delivery on 15th March. It was signed for on 17th March. No contact, no refund. So I rang again today, 'same person' as the 1st time, no idea who I was, put me on hold 4 times, eventually found the transaction and asked what my query was! I hate myself for it but I got really upset at having to repeat the details yet again. I was not rude, I didn't swear or yell but did repeat the details clearly. He then said 'If you are going to talk to me like that then I'm not dealing with you' so I said I can't believe I'm having to go through all of this again and he hung up. No-one at Savapoint has ever apologised, offered to sort out their mistake or been even remotely sympathetic. The only person who's fault this is is me, apparently. I am angry, I can't believe a company can just take your money then make you jump through hoops to get it back when they can see the transaction and that no goods were ever sent out. Obviously they had no intention of acting on my letters and had 'no record of receiving either of them' even when I have a copy and the name of, the person who signed for the second one. I've had to go back to my card company to try to get this money back. They have had it for over 4 months and appear to have no intention of returning it, let alone being polite and helpful.
Avoid them like the plague.

Yesterday (10th)I rang Savapoint and coincidentaly Jame said that he had just received today notice from returns dept to credit my card so I wait to see if the money gets credited, live in hope.

Further to my blag about this company having sent 3 e-mails to head office in Croydon I got an e-mail asking me to return the dvd to returns dept using a freepost address, without a freepost number, I then e-mailed customer services and had a phone call back saying that if I put the envelope in a post box that will be ok, fortunately I went to post office and got a receipt for it, one up for me, James also said when they receive the dvd he will ring me back to find out my card details to reimburse me the payment for the dvd this was 22Oct so I wait in vain. Having got a pc cd rom CosmiShred from savapoint I find that I cannot load it as it keeps coming up you need over IE5 well both laptops have over IE6 having spoken to James, the only customer services person there I think, he agreed that his copy was doing the same and he was so beligerent and stated that I had to get in touch with Cosmieurope.com having sent several e-mails to them I found out that they were now out of business I then spent so much money on phones calls and e-mails,I was told by James that there was nothing they would do and it was up to me and that I could send the cd back to them and if the technical!! dept found it was faulty would!! send me my money back I then suggested that James gave their technical dept his copy he then became beligerent and said no and that I had to send mine back, do turkeys vote for christmas, so goodbye £13 and I will advise anybody never ever to buy from savapoint. Since receiving my order, I was maybe a bit harsh with my last blag. Goods were ordered 3rd April (14 days delivery stated by Savapoint)and I phoned 23rd to find out position and was advised had been out of stock but just arrived in so would be sent out asap. Received goods 28th April so delivery not so clever but at least the contact gave good info.

 jaydee at 29th Apr 2008, 09:44PM
Order placed 3 April, stated 14 days delivery. Still waiting on 25th April. Not impressed

 jaydee at 25th Apr 2008, 08:23PM
I've placed small orders in past and have been ok.
Placed order for £446.86 in December 2004 (now Jan 06) received only part order - 1 digital camera instead of 2 and home speaker system was broken - i've returned home speaker system but I had to pay P&P to return it @ £10 - still not received new one.

The 2 identical cameras I ordered but only one delivered was faulty - it could not download pictures onto computer. They said itâÂ?Â?s me âÂ?Â? IâÂ?Â?m doing it wrong - not the camera thatâÂ?Â?s faulty - they refused to change the camera.
I again got through on 11/8/05 and asked where is my other camera and speaker system - they said not doing that make of camera anymore as they are faulty (contrary to what they said before) and would send another make - they would not then after admitting that the camera make was faulty let me return my other camera and receive another make.
Got through again on 30/11/05 - said order was posted - although still not received item.

They do not respond to emails & is very hard to get through on phone

Good Stuff Savapoint! I was one of the first in the UK to get my new toy, Sony PSP, thanks to them. Had all my friends green with envy as they all waited to get theirs from shops that had sold out. Plus it was less expensive (OK by a pound but still it's the thought that counts)

Just noticed they're collecting for the South Asia earthquake emergency appeal, dig deep guys- worthwhile cause!

I left a comment here last year after succeeding in getting a refund, saying "my ordeal with this company is now over". Ha, if only. In July I got a letter out of the blue claiming I'd issued a chargeback on my credit card, and threatening to hand my details over to debt collection. Er... guys, it was YOU that issued the chargeback. That's how refunds work, you know? I replied by email, trying to set the record straight.

Last week the post office got in touch. Apparently Softpoint had contacted them about an order I made in September 2004 that got lost, and they wanted to know if I'd received it yet. Say what? September 2004 was the time when I was ready to march to Staffordshire with pitchfork and blazing torch. I'm pretty sure I didn't place an order then, unless I had a spontaneous bout of amnesia.

Today they decided to send me another copy of the chargeback letter, obviously having filed away my earlier reply into the trash as usual. My next port of call will be the Information Commissioner's Office, because they're now in clear breach of the Data Protection Act which forbids them from keeping inaccurate personal data, and from keeping personal data for an unreasonably long time.

Their delivery service was woefully bad, but their record keeping is downright illegal. Don't even trust your name and address to these clowns, let alone your money.

I use Savapoint regularly, their low prices and good mixture of products always keeps me coming back to this site and picking up some real bargains. I have just ordered some new Epson ink cartridges as they all boast free delivery and are very cheap. I am also impressed by their new look website and navigation has vastly improved. I have also noticed that their delivery times seem to have quickened up lately with orders coming as quickly as only 3 days now.

I previously left negative comments about this company but after approx 4 emails to them I did receive a telephone call from them and they arranged to resend the goods.I received them within 5 days and they have since rang to check that I have received them. All I can say is that they need to keep customers more informed if goods are out of stock. But I would now use them again

 jackiemaxwell@tiscali.co.uk at 18th May 2005, 08:53PM
I have been trying to get the goods I paid for since the beginning of april and all i have got is a response saying they are dealing with it within 5days. am still waiting. nothing from them and nothing received, don't deal with this company, they are used by tiscali but you get nothing so do not buy any tiscali special offers.

 jackiemaxwell@tiscali.co.uk at 6th May 2005, 09:53PM
I have read all the negative comments about this company and I have recently had dealings with them. I ordered a home theatre system from them and when it arrived about 3 weeks later the subwoofer did not work. I had all the problems with regards to contacting them, phones continually engaged or not answered. When I eventually got through promises of action failed to materialise. Living near to their offices I decided to take the subwoofer back. I have to tell you they treated me with great courtesy, changed the subwoofer for a new one and did everything they could to satisfy me. I don't think they are a rip off company just very very poor at customer service and whilst I appreciate not everyone lives near enough to their offices to take products back I felt I should at least tell you about my experience with them. Ps. I am now delighted with my home theatre system and think I got it at a bargin price.

I ordered a Nokia mobile phone accessories kit from Savapoint about 3 months ago. They debited my credit card on the same day that I placed the order. When I hadn't received anything after 2 months I managed to speak to someone after numerous attempts on their always engaged or no-one answers customer service line. I then received a Nokia accessories kit a few days later but part of it was missing and the rest was for a different model of Nokia. I have sent numerous emails, letters and faxes but they never respond. Trading Standards advised me to write to Mr Mo-Shabir Â?making time of the essenceÂ? and saying that unless I received my order by such-and-such a date then I would consider them Â?in breach of contractÂ?. What is the point of that unless I can afford to pursue legal proceedings? What is the point of legal proceedings for an order worth less than £6? Trading Standards should prosecute this company. There isn't a barge-pole long enough that I would use to touch this company. I have just emailed Mr Mo-Shabir at mo@softpoint.co.uk.

 Eddie at 8th Nov 2004, 02:26PM
Having experienced similar problems to everyone else and noting the managing director's e-mail address in a prior comment, I too e-mailed Mo Shabir and low and behold, the DVD I ordered arrived the next day only a month late.

Problems Still continue with this Company!!

There is no such thing as bad luck regarding this company, they have no excuse for there dishonest practice's.
Be wary of positive reviews. And if in doubt contact Trading Standard's for honest advice.

I am proud to announce that I HAVE RECEIVED AN ACTUAL REFUND FROM SAVAPOINT!!! Including the so-called handling charge! Okay, so it was just a 10 pound order and it took me 6 months of going back and forth between Savapoint and Trading Standards, probably spending more in time and postage costs than it was realistically worth, but I was determined to see that they gave back every penny of the money I paid them for their non-existent service. The goods arrived 6 weeks late at the wrong address, and from the moment I placed the order until I got my money back they've stalled at every conceivable point. My local Trading Standards pointed me in the direction of the managing director Mr Mo Shabir, who actually does respond to emails (mo at softpoint dot co dot uk) and letters (to the Croydon address on http://www.softpoint.co.uk/site/), provided you mention the magic words Trading Standards. My ordeal with this company is now over; needless to say I won't be using them again.

Like so many other people I mistakenly placed an order with this company... thought all the items were in stock, but after waiting a 10 days tried to find out where my order was & got the automated response that goods would take 28 days to arrive. The money was taken immediately from my credit card. A delivery eventually arrived with 3 out of 5 items missing. Phoned & was told that they had made a mistake & the rest would be sent out straight away. A week later I phoned & was told the items had been dispatched the previous day (by Steve). A week later the goods hadn't arrived & so rang again..... Was told that there was an error & the goods were out of stock but were due in soon! A month later after several phonecalls the goods did eventually arrive but that was because I insisted on speaking to the customer services manager, although I was rather shocked to find they had one... Have since been trying to get an invoice from these people & they need to know my VAT no???? Never heard of that one.
Oh, don't think that phoning these people was easy... Its always took hours to get through. Try the 0870 200 5600, 01, 02, 03, 04 etc numbers as it occasionally works.
I am going to report them to Trading Standards & HMCE so I hope they read this.
Never shop with them .........

I got my money back but not from savapoint. If you have problems with this company.1 contact trading standards.2 contact your bank/credit card company ask to be put through to fraud/disputes. They are now dealing with it but meantime refunded my money.I am grateful that the bank refunded my money but not happy with savapoint or the way it has treated people, so i will update in forums when i find out more. best of luck to you all.

 kaya at 20th Sep 2004, 03:49PM
Following my earlier posting, naturally the refund hadn't arrived after 15 days. I bravely rang them again. They said it wasn't possible to arrange a refund without taking my credit card details again. But the rep who said I would get a refund didn't take my details. Another bare-faced lie from these scumbags. I said I would go to the police if I didn't get the refund in 7 days.

 DaveSinden at 12th Sep 2004, 09:24PM
I've used this company several times and can't say I've got any complaints. Most times the goods have been delivered within their stated time of 14 days. Their products are inexpensive so I'm willing to wait a little longer. I've had one product that didn't work and got a refund fairly quickly when I sent it back.

 VeggiBoy at 8th Sep 2004, 10:35AM
I ordered a digital camera from Savapoint. When this hadn't appeared after 3 weeks I rang their Customer "Services" line. I had to try repeatedly for several hours before I got through. The rep told me the camera had been posted the day before and I would get it in the next day or two. A week later it still hadn't come. I spent another few hours repeatedly pressing 'redial'. This time they said there was no record of the camera having been posted. They asked me the name of the person I had spoken to previously! I told them where to shove the camera. I emailed them asking for their comments. Of course they haven't bothered to reply. Don't touch these scumbags with a barge-pole.
