Sorry to hear the last poster had a bad experience with Alamo. I hired a car from them last year at Belfast airport and the arrangement was that they provided a full tank of fuel (I paid for the fuel at the car hire desk) and then you took it back empty. The car was great and pretty economical. I returned it nearly empty and that was fine.

It sounds as though there has been a misunderstanding somewhere along the line but I was pleased with my experience with Alamo at Belfast and will be hiring there again later this year.

never again with alamo!!!
i paid the fuel when i collected the car the first day...when i gave back the car at the end of the rental period..they tried to charge again the fuel..i showed the receive with stamped on"return empty no refunds given"and "fuel purchased 37.62£"...
they said tha was ok
after one month they sent to me a injuncion of payment for the fuel
i spent hours at the phone,i sent a copy of the receive...
they said that they was sorry and that was a mistake...

I hired a car from Alamo in California on Sept 8 2004. On route to the Grand Canyon I was told by a garage that I had to have the front tyres replaced before I could continue on my journey as they were in a very poor condition. I phoned Alamo & was given authority to get this work done and a refund would be provided on my return to the depot. On my return, Sep 18 2004, I was told the refund of approx $370 couldn't be refunded to my credit card &, after waiting 1 1/2 hrs at the desk for this to be resolved, was eventually told a cheque would be issued 10 days later. We were already running late for our plane due to the wait & so had to leave..I now feel this was their plan!! This is now Jan 28 2005 and I have had no cheque and, despite constant emails to them for an update, no confirmation at all of what is happening or why there is such an unacceptable delay. They have confirmed the authorisation etc is noted on the system but no-one seems able to issue this payment. I seriously urge people to avoid using this company, the customer service I HAVEN'T received is unbelievably appalling! No-one is willing to get back in touch with me and I am at my wits end of how to get my money back, which was used to purchase tyres for their car with their full authority. To me this is theft...

Received a printed reservation stating the final price .Upon arrival at the Florida office, was told several items could not be included at that price and the final price in the US was £487 over twice the amount printed on my online reservation (booked at Alamo UK)
