Why is there so much unnecessary NOISE on the underground. I'm refering mostly to announcements telling you to buy oystercards, to avoid stations/engineering works, to mind the gap, etc. They even make anouncements to tell you that there are no problems to report. Why do that? In addition to all of the above, we have platform attendants announcing VERY LOUDLY that this is the train calling at all stations to wherever, to stand back from the yellow line "fer yer own safety", to pass down the platform/ down the cars & stand back from the doors.Another layer of noise comes from the control room giving the latest service update, and then there's often the driver, telling you to...ho hum stand back from the doors, the destination, mind the gap. As if this &^%$$£%!! cacophony were not enough, there's that automated woman's voice laboriously telling you what the next stations gonna be, what lines you can change to, then, upon arrival at the station, you are told again the station name. No sooner has one left one station before one's automatically informed about the name of the next station. Its all so arrrrgggghhhh!!!!!!!
Or maybe its just me.
Seriously, even I can see that some of this is necessary. But why have competing announcements all happenning at the same time. Why are some of the announcements so LOUD. Why so lengthy? I mean, a quick, "Next stop, Victoria" would suffice. And have LU done any research at all to determine whether yelling mind-the-gap at us all-the-time REALLY improves safety, or even if telling us to keep our belongings with us at all times actually results in us..um, remembering to keep our belongings with us??
If anyone knows of a good place apart from here to complain, I would luv to know, as LU seem to have left off a feedback section from there website. Apologies if this seems like a rant, but I feel like I'm going crazy & I'm not gonna take it any more, etc. (frothing)
How long can LUL carry on with the diabolical service they provide? It's the summer time and it's hot, and the tube is 10 degrees hotter than whatever it is outside. Instead of telling us to carry bottles of water, not to travel if we feel ill etc etc, why don't they invest in some trains with air con units? It's been like this for the last 30 years and still no sign of anything being done about it.
No wonder people get fed up with the mainly grumpy, unhelpful staff. Even accounting for the fact that the LUL can probably can only employee managers who can't get a job anywhere else it is still taking far too long for them to sort it out.
Ok so I know they are an easy target but would someone please tell me why when you buy an offpeak travelcard for zones 1-3 it's almost £2 more expensive than buying one for zones 1-4! Less is more?
