OMG... I wish I read this website before buying their windows. I can't believe my old windows were better than the ones they fitted. Their's are draughty, cold and dripping wet. I must admit they do look nice and the work itself went without a hitch, and I can put up with salesmen; as i can be very rude myself. But their standards and product are just not worth any money you pay.....STEER CLEAR.... BE WARNED!!!

Safestyle Uk

Play them at there own game and win. Have you ever wondered why they do it ? The answer is easy. it's Money. Safestyle Uk double glazing windows and doors aren't alone in doing this but they are in the top ten of companies out there.

How do the process usually start ? Well firstly you may get a knock on your door from a door to door canvessor or you might see or hear there advert on the tv / Radio ? Either way they offer a FREE no Obligation quote for 12 months . Ok that's fine upto this point.

Ok you've been considering changing or replacing your existing windows and doors and decide to take them up or contact them for you FREE NO OBLIGATION QUOTE FOR 12 MONTHS. They'll straight away point out the faults of your existing windows ( where taking the person who just knocked on your door ) As you don't know your old windows aren't faultless but never the less they'll point the faults out just so you have a quote of course it's free do where's the harm in that . Ok excellent you ask for your free quote and give your name address and contact details to either the canvessor on the door or over the phone if you've phoned them ? That's your first massive mistake as from now on you'll be phoned repeatedly every day and night once you've shown interest. Firstly you'll get a call from there appointments manager to arrange a time for a sales person to call around abc measure up then give you your FREE 12 Month quote. Of course they will confirm your details and your Interest in the windows & doors then ask to see both parties if married or living together to choose opening etc. No major problems at this stage ? Think again

This is where the pressure starts. They will try make an appointment for that very same day, Some times within the hour of knocking on your door or first point of contact. STOP right there. Give yourself time and don't be bullied. Make the appointment for two days later. Ignore his speel about a adviser being in area that's a load of rubbish. Use that time to research the company and consider your options be wise be smart results in you winning and saving money whilst still getting what you want when you want it.

The sales adviser will call around at the date/Time you agreed. There nice people deep down so don't take it out on them there only doing there job. Be firm yet polite. Let them inn and let them measure up and spend a fare amount time explaining the product etc but be warned they will try spin this out to as long as possible as they think longer they spend in your house the more chance of a sale on that day for a bigger price. Average time 2 1/2 hours but that's ok to learn all you need to hear . Once they've done there demonstration and measured up it's time for the quote price for 12 months. Prepare your self for a shock but that's what there trained to do.

A price will be delivered have actually shown you all kinda figures from there brief case of over companies etc but this will be your FREE 12 month quote. It's gonna be a high price from start but here let me help you. Follow this guide.

1. Insist on his best possible price discounted. Then ignore it.
2. Write it down on paper then do this. Examples if your looking at five windows and his first price ( there quite) is £5500 then that's £1100 per window . Easy yeah
3. Then they start the confussed discounting ? And upgrades etc. All a load rubbish just a way of ripping you off
4. If you wanting the windows ( they are decent quality) but not worth there price. Here's the price you want to pay

Five 'A' rated ecco diamond range ( ignore there premium range that they state all offers are on) stick to your price of £350 per window that's a total price of £1750 fully fitted Inc vat job done. A door being £750 max.

They'll do the usual ringing there manager. Let them but stick to your guns don't be pressured and NEVER EVER SIGN ON THAT DAY. sorry to shout. The deal be there no matter what they say. Be very strong on this please. They will come back at that price or even lower if your clever.

How do I know this you may be wondering ? I k ow because I worked for Safestyle Uk and know there tactics of which they are many but stick to my advice and you do ok.

Hi everyone . Ok big wake up call . You wanna beat the salemen and get what you want ? Follow my guide and you never fail.

1: Do your research prior to letting the Sales rep in.
2: Choose there ecco diamond 100% 'A' rated window ( They only make the one)
3: Set your budget at £350 max per window frame no matter white size colour etc
4:Never ever ever no matter what sign on the night the price be there when your ready to buy.
5: Tell there branch manager you wan't 48 hours use term 48 hour repwatch min
6: Never give your details to man on the door who knocks in first place. Just take his leaflet then call office.
7: if you live in Sheffield area tell salemen to call neil. Kirkphatric there branch mager and tell him you only wanna pay £310 per frame max

yes all these facts are true as in a Safestyle sales staff member.

Rang for a quote for 2 doors at 11am sales person was with us before 12pm, Sweaty, Smelly man with gravy down his tie and shirt, Told me what doors would suit me best based on his own doors at home, rambled on for 45 mins about quality and the companies background, when it was established blah blah blah!! Finally gave me a price of £2600 told him not a chance, then dropped to £1600, told him would shop around, Called his Boss "Gary" hmmmm, he said £1400. I told him I hadn't seen a brochure to which smelly man then dropped one on the table and said "look for yourself" very nastily, I pointed at a couple and said what are the different prices? but he moved me on and demanded £60 deposit, what a joke.! how can you quote without measuring the door size anyway?. He Said I'd made a verbal agreement, I told him to "JOG ON" and said his pushy little technique might frighten little old ladies but it wasn't washing with me. He said "well if YOU can't afford OUR quality products why waste my time in the first place", I told him to leave my house at which point he'd already left slamming my door at full force behind him, If I didn't need a front door before, I certainly do now, the vandal.!!
I have a small local company coming next week to fit exactly the same doors for £1000, price isn't everything but customer service is, and this company wouldn't know customer service if it slapped them in the face... ( Which I very much would have liked to do to the sales rep)

 funkyfreks at 13th Sep 2011, 10:42AM
I had my windows and doors fitted just over a year ago. After installation, as I was told would happen, the front door had dropped so I phoned Safestyle and asked them to rectify it.
They sent out an engineer to sort this out and in the mean time, I noticed that the anti-drilling device on the lock was missing so I mentioned it to the engineer when he arrived.
The installers had not lined up the handle correctly which meant that with the anti-drilling device in place, the key could not be used and so they decided to just leave the safety feature out. The engineer then proceeded to 'jack up' the door by the hinges as far as they could possibly go which, to be perfectly honest, made the inside of the door look an absolute mess!! After he had finished doing this, he then proceeded to show me a device that he "had made, only that morning". The device consisted of a cut down broom handle and bits of plastic. Looking very pleased with himself, he placed the device through the letter box and showed me how easy it was to break in if the door isn't double locked. (Another phone call to safestyle; this isn't an approved piece of equipment and the engineer SHOULD NOT be carrying anything of the sort. That equalled a prompt phone call to the police for a suspected burglar!)
This has not rectified the problem as the door is still sticking on the bottom edge and at certain times of the day when the sun is in the right place, you can see daylight coming through between the door and the frame.
I have been having an on-going battle with Safestyle now for about 10months to get my door sorted. They keep sending out engineers to 'lift' the door which is of no use as the door cannot be lifted any more. Two of the 5 engineers sent out have informed me and the Safestyle office that the door frame has not been installed correctly and this is the reason for my problem. The door frame is not fitted squarely so no matter how much adjustment is made to the hinges, my problem will remain.
Even though the two engineers have spoken to, and supposedly arranged a team to come out, remove the frame and re-fit it, Safestyle keep on sending out a single engineer instead to try and jack-up the hinges rather than actually resolve the issue that should be covered by their guarantee!
I am now at the point where I will be looking to take legal action as they are not fulfilling their guarantee.
I would NEVER recommend Safestyle UK to anyone else, not even someone I didn't like!
The workmanship on installation is shabby at best and as for the post-install customer service, I would have more luck in getting a result from the brick wall that the door frame is fixed to!
Awful company, awful service and not worthy of anyone's business!

I too invited the sales rep around to give me a quote !! lmao he was a complete joke, and after ringing his "boss" i was told i could have 2 doors for the price of £2900.00 if i gave him a deposit today ? i explained i will be getting other quotes and if i got one cheaper i would cancel, thats fine he said you have a 14 day cooling off period. 5 days later i got the same 2 doors for £1100.00 with a side window included ? so i rang to cancel my order and was told i would lose my deposit ( ha ha little did they know i got the salesmans name and adress ) so i told them if i dont get it back i will go to his home and get it myself !!! and then they said we will cancel your order and return your deposit ? safestyle 0 me 1 get in! dont touch these cowboys

Someone called at my door last year from Safestyle wanting to quote for new windows and doors. I said I wanted wood windows - they said they don't do them, I said I wanted sash windows - they said the don't do them. I said I wasn't interested in that case but have since been bombarded with over 5 phone calls per day from these people. The last phone call I got was last week when they told me they now do sash windows. I said I still wanted wood windows as I live in a conservation area. They then proceeded to inform me that I did not necessarily need wood windows just because I was in a conservation area. Erm, excuse me but isn't that my choice? Anyway, they must have caught me off guard because I stupidly admitted to them coming round to do a quote the following evening. However, my husband went berserk as he knows what cowboys Safestyle are. So, I called the number on the website the following day, gave my details and asked that they cancel the appointment. No one from Safestyle visited that evening so I assumed that was the end of the matter....until I started receiving numerous phone calls again. I kept ignoring them but picked up the last call as I was waiting for an urgent phone call from a family member and didn't think to check the number on the screen. I told them not to contact me again as I wasn't interested and the guy (the second one who rang me to confirm that the first one has spoken to me in a professional matter) was fine about it and said he would remove my number right there and then. Within seconds I got another call from the first guy. He said "I'm a bit confused, why don't you want me to call you when you asked for a quote?" I told him I had called the office and cancelled as I wasn't interested. He said he never got the message (yeah, right). He started being arsy with me. I immediately put him in his place, at which point he told me I was being arsy. And they want business do they!!!! There is no way I would ever buy anything from this company after the conversation I had with this person. They have the cheek to call me over 5 times a day and then wonder why I get annoyed. On top of that, my husband was at the time on a call to a family member who has been diagnosed with cancer and I had this idiot blocking the land line arguing with me about why I don't want a quote no more!!!!! From the tone of this sales rep, I'm expecting repercussions from this - smashed window pershaps. Try it and you'll be sorry.

 donotcoldcallme at 31st Mar 2011, 09:37AM
We too have had windows fitted by Safestyle back in oct 2006 and I have to say what I think about the company is too rude to print. I have had nothing but trouble from the start, the windows are rubbish, the customer service worse and the managers and supervisors I have dealt with over the years are worse still. French doors have been replaced twice and windows repaired yet again 3 days ago and guess what.... No better. This is the worst company on the planet and I would not recommend them to fit a window in my garden shed. Absolute rubbish. They do not arrive in a van but come on horses instead!!!!

 huggy2k11 at 12th Mar 2011, 11:13AM
In addition to my earlier post, I have now discovered, after a night of heavy rain that all the windows leak! woke up to find puddles of water on window sills and it was so bad in the bedroom that water was actually running down the walls!!!!! Have reported this to customer services and someone should be coming out next week to take a look, I'll keep you posted!

Do they know that there is a recession????

I live outside of the UK and decided to upgrade one of our uk addresses 12 windows, and 2 doors, good business, or so I thought. My husband dealt with the telesales, as I admit that I am not patient with sales people (like many I know what I want, what is my budget and don't need more than the details and price to decide - simple). The appointment made for today has just been cancelled because they dont want to quote and leave, and that's before they have arrived, and to think that I flew 2000 miles to sort this out. I would not give them house room - forgive the pun. Incidentally, the people that we spoke to have been rude, aggressive, condecending and unprofessional. A further point they won't see you unless you are together, perhaps they know that only with two of you can you escort them off the premises?!

As a professional person I am ashamed to have even gone this far with such a bunch - be afraid, very afraid if you let them in.

 tzigane at 14th Jan 2011, 07:50AM
I would strongly recommend that you avoid using this company like the plague! The female salesperson was ok, and I was happy with the price that I finally got, the fitting, however was a total nightmare. Three lads turned up in an old, unmarked white van. I asked them if they were actual Safestyle fitters, their reply was 'no such thing luv, all fitters are contractors' They smoked all the way trough the installation, filling my front room with the smell of cigs, littered my driveway with fag ends and somehow managed to get mud all over my ceiling. The finish was totally shoddy and when a large chunk of plaster came loose all they did was pump about half a gun full of sillicone into the hole then stuck some trim over it. When I tried to look closely at the finish I was asked aggresively, (What yer lookin at?!) To be honest I couldn't get them out of the house fast enough, then when they had left I realised that the lead flashing on the upstairs bay had been left hanging down when it should have been fitted under the window sill. I got onto Safestyle straight away to complain and to cut a long story short, after several visits from different fitters to put things right including having to remove the upstars window and refit it It is more or less sorted. I'm still left with sillicone filled holes in my walls though and i didn't appreciate being called pathetic by one of their 'managers' when I got upset during one of my numerous phonecalls. Like I said, avoid like the plague!

 yorkshirelass41 at 3rd Jan 2011, 07:54PM
This firm are extremly quick to contact you when you express interest. However if you have an issue they are the hardest company to get any sensible decision out of. You will be passed from pillar to post and told that the department you are speaking to can't deal with your issue. They will not acknowledge your e-mails and if you try to complain will just cut the call. I would not entertain this company again if they were the last firm on the planet.

 Martin-1302 at 2nd Jan 2011, 08:26PM
Its like an invasion! Under no circumstances should you approach this company for a quotation. Their salesman took 2 hours to give a quotation for 2 bedrooms windows!! Plus the pressure selling technique was like a verbal bombardment of the not so pleasant kind. Very, very pushy and "the deal only available whilst he was present" was almost threatening. We have decided to go with a local Maidenhead company who came and gave a quote in 20 minutes gave us their contact details and have not called incessently to chase us up! Safestyle seriously need to reconsider their selling techniques as we will not recommend them to our worst enemy!! AND their special price was only £60 less than the company we have contracted to do the work!

 vbredenkamp@googlemail.com at 13th Sep 2010, 08:27AM
Windows and one guard door installed in Dec 2009. Door fitments do not match.....5 months later and 28 phone calls, 4 visits booked and problem still not resolved. Have found local company who can supply and fit letterbox but Safestyle will not confirm that guarantee for door will still stand. Now seeking legal advice for compensation and written confirmation that guarantee WILL still stand. DO NOT ENTERTAIN THIS COMPANY!!!!!!

Safestyle UK
In a nutshell, just don't use them.
- Salesman was with me for three hours
- There fitting is untidy
- They use contractor fitters which they claim are employed
- They say they will beat any quote, whatever you show them they will just say its not comparable because SS are better quality which is not true.
- The windows installed were not as ordered, but there is no proof on your order form.
- They broke one of my large windows and didn't secure before returning in three days to replace it.
- They didn't install my replacement window cills as it wasn't on there list so just capped them a week later.
- My littles girls room opener wouldn't close properly, which now a year later all the parts have rusted.
- The main bedroom window frame is warped therefore lets in drafts.
- They broke my porch roof
- blocked my draining pipes in the bathroom
- left rubble outside and throughout my house.
Safestyle offered 100 pounds compensation of which I am still fighting with them today which is not easy and the repairs 2 years down the line have not been carried out.
Buy one get on free is a load of rubbish I paid 3k for my four windows.

Not a company to invite into your home!
They use at least 3 people to make a sales call, a doorstep canvasser to book an appointment, a home sales man to browbeat you into accepting a quote, they start out saying they will leave a quote valid for 12 months , but want you to sign up to the product on the night. The visit will be a minimum of 2 hours and they insist on both patners being present or they just go away a again, a sure sign something is not kosher with the process.
They also have an appointment manager who rings to check appts are ok and people were polite, It is funny that this person actually hung up on me when I said all I wanted was a rough quote not a binding price, he said no one would give such a thing and if they did they were mad!, and then hung up...whilst I was still talking to him

That for me says it all for this company dont invite them into your home it is only asking for pressure selling of the worst kind

Was canvassed one afternoon and talked into requesting a quote for a front door. I said ok on the premise that they could do that from outside.

15 mins later a saleman turned up and admitted that he usually stays for around an hour or more before quoting.

When I said I worked from home and couldn't ever spare that amount of time he phoned his office and they told him not to quote me at all!

Proof if it were needed that it is their company policy to string out their sales pitch as long as possible.

 andy_baptiste at 17th Nov 2009, 01:37PM
I called them round to give us a free no obligation quote yesterday for an elderly member of my family. Rep turns up, on time very nicey nicey and took his time. Measures the windows up, quotes us £9000 then says it is buy one get one free and then quotes £4500. Then his mood changed i said thanks for the quote, we have other quotes to get so will be in touch. He didn't want to know about other quotes, said if we signed there and then on the dotted line we could get as many quotes as we wanted in the mean time. Now my mother in law was going to sign on the dotted line until i told him no it was the daughter and son who make the financial decisions. He told me that if he had known the decision makers weren't there he wouldnt have even quoted us! He was annoyed we didn't sign and started going on about this £60.00 survey fee. Mother in law thought that she owed him £60 for coming out and didnt understand that fee is standard if you order the windows for a survey fee. She was upset and it took me a while to calm her down but she still believes she owes them £60.00. Bully boy tactics in my eyes, they can get lost now, their sales rep failed on this occasion. Member from HO rang me and asked how the sales pitch went on, i told him exactly what was said and he apologised, said he was new from another window company would reduce the price for our convenience. Now the price quoted was only a few hundred more than what a friend quoted so guess it wasn't too bad, if they want my business, they will keep that price for a while instead of telling me that it was a managers offer for that day only! Poor service from the people trying to drum up business for them, not impressed!

 Kupppazzzz at 12th Nov 2009, 11:40AM
I had someone cold calling from safestyle he left a leaflet and later i decided to contact them for a quote, I was told that they had someone in my area the same evening (as if). I explained that i only wanted them to measure up and give me a quote as per their website advertising, "free quote left with you for up to 12months), The chap came round that evening, first thing he said was, "I've just come over from Manchester and its foggy over the top", I live in Leeds! Hardly "someone in my area" is it?? I re explained that i only wanted a quote and that he would not be getting an order today, then asked him to measure up. He made an excuse that he had to ring his wife and went out to his car, then drove off!!!! my advice: Stay away from these people!!!

 tanky at 10th Nov 2009, 06:49PM
hey, im a canvasser for safestyle.
ive read through all the comments on the forst page and was sad to hear that people have had bad experiences with safestyle, but when i had training with them they were VERY good and explained exactly how we are supposed to be on the door and talk to customers. the company IS THE BIGGEST IN THE UK for windows and doors and have sucessfully fitted windows for years. as with any company its bound to have a few idiots working for them but they DO get rid of them briskly! as for the reps selling the product, they are doing what ya ask them to do... sell you a product. shops do the exact same, invite you in with a good offer (for example coffee) and then put products you want on a daily basis out in places you can miss them! ITS CALLED SELLING AND PROMOTING!
in my mind, if you want something get a price if ya dont then dont bother!
all safestyle salesmen and reps are fully trained and told exactly what to say to make you buy the product.
i hope you all had the windows sorted asap and in my mind safestyle is a good company with many many good people working for them.
dont throw a whole company away for the bad apples we already thrown away!

 stylecanvasser at 24th Sep 2009, 07:56AM
We were thinking of having new windows so when safestyles scouts knocked on the door saying a rep could pop round this evening we thought why not.
we googled safestyle to find out about them and found most of the comments are true, they said;the rep would come round and tell you about the company and measure the windows and show you the windows.they would work out a price then a price for half of the windows, then a sign up today price.then they would register the quote with their office(8.30pm!)AMAZING all of a sudden after speaking to their office they had a cancellation for a fitting date and they could offer the top quality windows for half the price of the premium windows if WE SIGNED UP TODAY.
£8000 premium windows to £4000 top quality windows???????????the rep was shown the door.

 don't trust them at 17th Mar 2009, 08:55PM
as an ex sales person i'd like to tell people how safestyle sale windows buy one get one free they say but 70% to 75% is what you should be looking for anymore is for the sales rep on a 50% sale the rep makes 14% so on £5000 he makes £700 at 60% off he makes 5% and NEVER sign on the night the deal WILL still be there next week one ploy to get you to sign on the night is to tell you they have a cancelled job in your area and to keep that low price you have to sign now or the discount will be offered to someone else , thats just a ploy the price will be the same next week . the other con is offering you a free upgrade from the preium style window to the diamond style which is much better and the show both windows but in truth they only make the diamond window , the preium window is just there to make you think you are getting something for nothing and the diamond window is graded as a c not a b like most reps say , but saying all this all windows companies use sale ploys like this so good luck with finding a good deal and hope you don't mind a 3 hour sales pitch

 ex-sales-rep at 5th Mar 2009, 09:32AM
I am very disatisfied with Safestyle UK. I have had a long running problem with trying to get them to resolve problems with our windows. Basically, they have fitted windows that are draftier, noisier and colder than our old windows. Now after 14 months of complaining they are not prepared to resolve the issue. I have found them very unprofessional in all aspects from the actuall installation to their complaints process. They promise to ring back with an update but never do. My experience with them is completely unsatisfactory and I would NEVER use them again and would strong deter other potential customers from doing so.
