i bought a coffee table from courts i also took out 5 years insurance when the table was fitted by courts it was wobbly when i called the company they said they would fix it they never replyed when i called again i was told courts was bankrubt and out of business courts was the worst company ever just a bunch of conmen who ripped people off.rubbish
Absolute rubbish, just a bunch of conmen. Sold me 5 years cover with the furniture i purchsed from them, but when i contacted the insurance company the informed me that courts had never taken out any insurance with them. When i contacted Courts the said it was a clerical error and would be sorted out this never happened. NOW THEY NO LONGER EXIST SO THE MONEY IS DEAD. COURTS SHOULD HAVE CLOSED DOWN LONG AGO.
COURTS CLOSING DOWN IS THE BEST THING THAT COULD EVER HAPPEN TO PROTECT CONSUMERS FROM A RIP OFF COMPANY LIKE COURTS !!!!!!!!!
We paid in full for a sofa for our daughter. After the collapse of Courts we accepted that the money was lost.Courts attempt to "help" the situation by offering a chance of choosing another sofa only made matters worse for her. She took 2 days leave from work, one to queue in the rain for 3 hrs whilst people were let in one at a time, and other waiting for the replacement sofa that never arrived. Eventually she managed to contact the store who told her the sofa was sold to someone else!
i worked for courts in 1980ish, i was the top salesman on the company. the directors used to send me complimentary slips on my buisness sales every month.
as i was doing so well i applied for a vacancy as a sales rep with a different company....
courts head office got to hear about this, and as the company in question was one that courts bought rugs from... they told them if they employed me they would close their account with them hence 100 shops no rugs big money loss.
6 weeks later i was sacked apparently for misconduct.
they never paid me commision sales of about £800 they owed me.
so i burgled them and stole £800 quids worth of electrical equipment from one of their stores.
i went to prison for that £800 quid.
or have they invested in other companies ? or perhaps they will go and say work at mcdonalds to pay off their debt to the public ?
either way im still sad that many hard working people have been robbed not by me a poor individual, but once again a large company where the people are never seen and never heard.
but remember this my good people..... everyone eventually has only themselves to face....
Courts are now in financial difficulties,no one will touch their shares and they owe 44m to the vat man. The way they treat customers they deserve it. Courts, you cant fool all the people all of the time.
1, Ordered dining suite on Feb 14th 2004 still waiting for delivery date over 3 months later.
2, Ordered three piece lounge suite on 7th March 2004, we were shown a demonstration card with fluid tipped on it to show stain guard effect. Friday 14th May went to check suite before delivery asked to see demonstration of stain guard on the suite were told that it was not advisable to tip any fluid on the fabric as the stain guard does not work the same on the suite as on the demonstration!!!!! Falsely charged £210.00 extra !!!!!!!!!
3, 7th March 2004 ordered Hall, Stairs and Lounge carpet to match suite we had ordered.
4, 6th May 2004 Carpet fitted, wrong colour shade supplied, dirty shading on carpet, carpet came away on two of stair treads nearly resulting in a serious fall down stairs.
5, Charged over £80.00 for extra carpet to achieve a pattern match across a doorway this was missed by 2 inches.
6, Charged £182.00 for stain guard on carpet, tried coffee and red wine on carpet off cut, stains would not come out.
7, Waited over a week for carpet to be removed.
8, Still waiting for credit agreement to be cancelled and deposit returned.
9, We now know of 8 other local people who have experienced problems with this furniture store.
And to cap it all read this:
On 28th May 2004 we took delivery of our new suite order no We signed the delivery sheet and the delivery people left. We then began to carefully un-wrap the suite and we noticed that the trims on the armchair and 2 seat sofa where coming adrift. We contacted the Rochdale store immediately and they told us to contact Regency who would come out under the terms of the guarantee, they came and rectified the fault on 4th June 2004.
Two weeks later we where moving the 3 seat sofa (Vacuuming) and we noticed that the frame at the rear left corner had left an imprint in the carpet, the reason for this was a foot was missing, we immediately contacted the store who said they would post one out us. We then started to move the 2 seat sofa again to vacuum when the arm just collapsed internally we again phoned the store who told us to contact Regency, we did this and they arranged an appointment for 1st July 2004.
On 1st July 2004 Regency arrived and inspected the arm, the man took the covering off the underside of the sofa and told us he was unable to repair it and that they would have to come back and totally strip the sofa down to effect a repair, we said that this was not acceptable because the sofa was virtually brand new and we wanted it to be replaced. He said he would have to get his office to contact Courts to see if they would agree to this. The following week while we were waiting for a reply the armchair started to make a pinging noise when whoever was sat on it rose out of the chair, we again contacted Regency who said they would come and inspect it on 29th July 2004.
About a two weeks after the second appointment we contacted the Rochdale store to find out what was going on and also mentioned about the chair, they rang back and said in view of all the problems they would replace the entire suite with a new one, we agreed to this and were told it would be about a 6 week delivery. The store also said that they would contact Regency and cancel the appointment for the 29th July, on 29th July at about 10.30am Regency arrived to look at the chair, the appointment had obviously not been cancelled.
On Friday last 30th July we received a call from the Rochdale store who said our replacement suite had arrived and could they deliver it on Saturday we agreed and on Saturday afternoon your delivery people arrived, we said we would not accept delivery until we had inspected the replacement this caused a problem with the delivery people saying the did not have time, however after a phone call they said it was ok.
We first open the armchair and all looked ok we them opened the 3 seat sofa and noticed that on the front seams all the upholstery staples were showing through, we re-inspected the armchair and noticed that it was also the same, we re-bagged the suite and the delivery people took it back. I then contacted John your store Manager at Rochdale who said he would look at the suite when the delivery people returned and then he would call us back.
John phoned back yesterday Sunday and agreed that the suite was defective and said he would order another one, we declined saying that we wished to return the existing suite and cancel our contract with you, however we now have a problem for us to make alternative arrangements we are going to have to wait up to 8 weeks so we asked if we could keep the suite until we could get a replacement organised john said No the maximum time that we would have would be two weeks.
Anyone considering buying the Panama double recliner, DON'T. We purchased 1 nearly 3 months ago and have had nothing but problems. Courts seem unwilling to help as do the manufacturers. Am currently awaiting someone to come and look at our suite for the third time in as many months. We also had the reclining armchair which has a mind of its own and reclines by itself, injuring whoever is in close proximity, it has knocked my 2 yr old daughter over twice but courts and the manufacturer seem unwilling to see this as a danger. have spoken to trading standards and am considering speaking to the local newspapers.
ordered Myers bed was quoted 5-7 weeks delivery now have been told 12 weeks because they are in dispute with the supplier over unpaid invoices and all stores had email 3 weeks after i ordered to tell them not to take any more orders. guess what? they have large page adverts in all the daily papers advertising these beds, have phoned no one wants to know have written to cancel my contract, have also reported them to trading standards so beware hope the people who do order have better luck than me.
Orded a 3 piece suite from courts, and agreed that the item would be delivered in 3 to 4 weeks, ok we paid £100 deposit, and told them that we would have the balance by the time it was ready, about 1 week later we had a phone call saying it was ready for delivery ( within a week), my wife said hang on we agreed to 3 to 4 weeks " we don't have the rest of the money yet" the store manager said " well we need the money before we can deliver it" we cancelled it but he said you will lose your deposit, i phoned thier head office and they said they would get back to me within 8 working HOURS, heard nothing, anyway we got half of our deposit back after 5 weeks , will not deal with them again
.We had a verbal agreement
Make sure you get everything in writing and read that small print
On the 14th Sept 03, I ordered a dining table & chairs, at the time of ordering i was informed that the table and chairs were popular and it would take 10/12 weeks for delivery. In Dec when the table were due i received a letter of apology, my table and chairs were delayed till mid/end of Jan cause of the huge demand. At the end of Jan i received another letter, this time the van the goods were on had been stolen, my goods would be delivered mid/end of Feb. End of Feb i received another letter, my table and chairs were in the UK but delivery would be mid/end of March due to clearance and consignment to the store. I don't know what to expect end of March, maybe another excuse with delivery mid/end of April??
It took a further 6 weeks to recover the monies, courst stil refused toi pay cash, i gave teh cash to wifes grasndparents and topok teh risk i could recover teh money wich i eventually did, to theis end i think courts are horendous, unproessional and have been reported to all the relavnet trading standards, DTI.
If you trwawl teh internet you wil find repeated stories of simlar woes... how do these people remain in business its simple they are crooks not businmess men
im ken mann from sandwich in kent. i bought a leather sofa from courts furnitre store in Ramsgate in kent in 2002 still under guarantee the arms caved in the suplier did not want anything to do with it courts now have orderd me a new one i am still waiting for it has been going on for six months now i am not going to shop there again the service i got was alfull i paid a lot of money for it and i get treated like that.
I ordered a sofa in march 2003. It's now january 2004 and it still hasn't arrived. Their excuse was that they lost the container carrying the sofa. They never bothered to contact me to let me know of any problems. They just kept me in the dark for several months . I'm trying to get my money back but they don't seem to want to contact me. COURTS are poor.
Wifes grandparents paid cash for a 3 pce suite, this whole incident has now made her grandfathe rwho is in his late 70's very ill as he feels he has been robbed of teh money and will not see it again or any goods, to the point that he has had to be hspitalised for strees and depression, 21 weeks later and after repeated phone calls it still had not been delivered, and no delivery date could be confirmed in writing the store manager would insist on verbal commitment only, which could e brken at will and was, local store manager refused a cash refund, insisting no cash and that he could not get cash, veery poor way to manage a 600 million plus turnover company attitude was appauling and we could not speak to anyone else as he had ultimte authority, would not pass on custemer servce details or head office details they are as Follows
