Terrible company, awful customer service. I'm glad they're in financial trouble now, but feel sorry for their staff.
I bought a computer from them 4 years ago. It was fine for a few months, but it then started to lock up after it had only been in use for a few minutes. It was returned to Time on several occasions for them to repair, but it kept coming back to me saying that they could find nothing wrong with it.
I gave them ample opportunity to repair it and eventually threatened them with legal action. It was only then that they offered to supply me with a replacement computer. At the time this offer was made, I asked Time if this new CPU would be compatible with the monitor, keyboard and cables that I already had and I was told it would be fine. Surprise, surprise, when the new CPU turned up, it had no connector to the keyboard or monitor.
I called Time up and they said they'd send me new equipment to get around this, but nothing arrived during the next week. I called again and they said they'd send it out, but again nothing.
I then went to the small claims court to make a claim. Time settled the claim in full a few days before it came to court. I'm pleased to say that all my costs were covered and I even got some additional cash on top.
I'd advise everyone not to have dealings with this company.
New laptop failed to recognise CD/DVD drive. Called helpline bloke who took me all through Windows XP (all the same things I had already done) before declaring it 'dead on arrival'. They collected it and put it right under the guarantee but it cost me £14 in call charges just to tell me it was faulty.
Two months later the switch broke off. I called the customer service number who woundn't discuss it, I had to call the £1 a minute number. They told me I would have to pay £35 to send it back for repair under the guarantee & then they might still charge me for the repair. I had it repaired by a local firm for £15.
Ok people lets get started eh! I was employed at time computer head office in Burley Lancashire for approx 5 months...5 months to long.
Here is some advice from a person who has seen where, who and how they make the pc's.
1.DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM TIME!
2.the pc's dont come with a reload disc that you WILL need to reload your computer if it crashes and then when you ring up on a pound a minute line you WILL get a guy from pakistan (no disrespect to them) who cannot understand half of the customers that ring.3.Ive seen the "notes"that have been entered about customers when you ring up to complain... you wouldn't like it trust me.
4. The "managers" that are there tell you to push push push extended warrenty on any new computers we sold. And guess wat the TOTAL CARE PLUS/GOLD PACKAGES they offer cover you for...errr...hang on ill thing of something soon... no cant think of anything. They are rubbish and its complete profit for the company. here are the approx prices. (If you have been overcharged ring in and tell them to check this entry)...
1yr plus 99 1yr gold 119
3yr plus 249 3yr gold 299
5yr plus 349 5yr gold 399
WOULD YOU PAY 400 QUID FOR COVER? BECAUSE I BLOODY WOULD NOT!!!
Plus the sales department, yes thats where i was, is full of people who are just sick.
Iwas in work one day and a "salesman" came to me and said "hey (my name) ive just done a job and half on these old bit** she was about 80 or someting. She wanted a ink cart for her printer and i got her to buy a new printer thats not has good has the ones shes got now plus i charged her the same amount for cover that we stopped doin about 6 months ago hahahahaha"
Yeah its good that mate.. your the same as someone who walks up to this lady in the street and takes her bag!
Ill give you all a number aswell incase you are so stupid to ignore this and go and give someone you should not trust 600 quid for a time pc...
time sales 08708 303 170 or 01282770044 ex7543
if someone doesnt ring you from time GET THEIR NAME!!!
I ordered a laptop from The Computer Shop (part of time), on the 3rd of May, I't's now nearly the end of July and I've still not recieved it, every week I call they give me another excuse as to what's wrong with it, if it doesn't arrive this week I'll be cancelling the order. The staff at the head office are the biggest waste of time (no pun intended) I've ever dealt with (second only to Dell).
I urge whoever you are to go elsewhere.
The worst customer after sale service possible... My Laptop is on 12mths warranty...
I had one key detached from my laptop's keyboard - manufacturing fault - asked them to sent new in envelope by post to avoid £40 return charge and inconvinience and very expensive £1 a min calls.
Keep it short: after 2 month they keep still my computer, - not repaired, HUGE expences + mentall distress + unable to use computer - my lifeblood. Very ungry with them. Many other faults with computer as well...
NEVER USE THEM AGAIN, WILL GO TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT!!!!!!
i have also had a really bad experience with time just like many others. I myself have had enough and im startin up a web site with an indepth report on the rip off merchants known as time computers. So i`m askin for any information, bad expericences. You can email your story to me at boffa098@hotmail.com and help me on my quest to show time computers they cant take us for mugs ..... Any feed back would be so welcome and id be so thankful. Boffa098@hotmail.com put the subject as `i hate time` thanks MIKIEEB
I bought my PC from Time computers in Oct 2003, and when the package was delivered, most of the software was missing. After 2 months of calls and involving the T.S people, I eventually got my software. 6 months after purchase, the monitor died with a bang and cloud of smoke. I phoned time, who told me that the only way topossibly get it repaired/replaced was to phone the £1 p/m line and after they give me a step-by-step run through (approx 15 mins), they decide if the monitor is faulty or not (the bang and smoke sold THAT issue for me!). Then I had to pay £50 carriage for the monitor to be returned to Time for repair/replacement!
The customer service people were no help at all and were pretty rude with their judgements (one even told me that the monitor couldnt be faulty or it would have died on the first day).
I, for one, will NEVER deal with this company again. Their after-sales service is a disgrace, their sales people seem to make it up as they go along and their terms for faulty returns defies belief!
Take my advice, steer clearof Time Computers!!!
The first time I bought a computer from this company I pledged never to deal with them again. I relented and bought a second PC from them thinking that things may have improved. I was wrong things are worse.
The DVD writer in my PC went faulty, I wrote to them and as I had proved the fault by changing the Writer for a new one they agreed to exchange it. They replaced the one I returned to them with an older, used and faulty writer. Now they refuse to deal with me except via their Premium rate lines. Emails and letters are ignored. Trading Standards are unable to help because Time say they will replace it if I call their Premium rate lines so I am left with a faulty writer.
I refuse to pay £1/min plus a possible £40 carriage charge to get a faulty DVD replaced.
My advice to you is to avoid this company and deal with one who cares about its customers. Don't be fooled by low prices you finish up paying in other ways.
I bought a time computer 3 yrs ago paying over £1,400 and thinking that I had bought the windows software with it. I only recently needed to reinstall the software only to find that you don't actually get the disk. I only found this out is after I had phoned the customer support line @ £1 a minute to say the disk was missing out of my software package and was told that I did not buy the disk. I was told at the time of purchase that this was part of the package so it appears that you only HIRE the software until you have any problems and you have to buy it all over again which is £60 approx which I think is disgusting and people should be aware of this.…

The Computer World also known as Time Computers
15th September Â? ordered their Platina S5809 Model 970
15th September my visa card was debited with £1349.02
I was told it would be 10 to 14 days before delivery;
29th September
I phoned the shop and was told that they should have said 10 Â? 14 WORKING days, yes they do work on Saturday but that didnÂ?t count, working days are Monday to Friday inc. I was told that according to their system it was in production and would be delivered within the week.
Several phone calls got me several different lies, including the biggest lie - THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH PAYMENT. (THEY TOOK PAYMENT FROM MY VISA CARD WHEN I ORDERED AND I HAVE PAID THE VISA BILL IN FULL.)
29th Sept to 16th October I made over £10 worth of phone calls. I then cancelled the order and told them to let me know when their problems were sorted.
24th October
My husband persuaded me to give them another go.
I re-ordered on the promise that they had cleared their backlog and would be able to deliver within three weeks.
I then got my visa bill - Price agreed = £1349.02
Taken from visa = £1507.00
29th November
I got the computer, BADLY SCRATCHED CASE, ONE FIREWIRE PORT MISSING AND A PIECE OF STICKY TAPE COVERING A HOLE IN THE CASE.
Their answer:
The hole was for any additional ports I may wish to add to my pc. The sticky tape was to stop dust getting in the case. As the scratches were on the drive covers they would send me spare covers to replace the damaged ones so that I could fit them myself. They had to admit to missing off one firewire ports so they said I could send it back. When I phoned them two days ago it hadn't been seen yet. It is now 8th Dec. This was supposed to be my Birthday gift (September) it now look as if it will be my Xmas gift.
IF I AM LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET IT BY THEN.
No-one will give me the phone number or even a name of anyone in charge so I can't even go there in person and confront anyone.
I have written three letters and not one of them has been replied to.
