i was conned by these people, this outfit are good at railroading you into a bad situation, get them to send you terms and conditions before doing anything, i guarantee they won't send them because they usually do this after you have paid, they won't commit, trading standards are investigating them and i hope they put them out of business.

My husband was caught out with the 3 buyers in line too! Paid the money, and oh look NO BUYER
:( Has anyone got thier money back? Can we not join forces to make our claims????

 pippy at 18th Aug 2006, 03:39PM
This company dont give up, we had a car for sale and they kept ringing and ringing, one day they said they had two buyers lined up one with cash and one with finance through them!! so stupidly we agreed to pay the £89.75 so we could sell the car, we never heard from these 2 buyers, when we tried calling wisematch we were just kept waiting never got through, tried again the other day and the line doesnt even conmect anymore! tried there website and thats vanished too! Gutted. Con artists.

My boyfriend registered a couple of weeks ago with the promise of already having interested buyers (although i did say not to!!) Got a poxy letter that showed they were advertising the car at the wrong location, somewhere miles away!! They changed it, but since then have had no contact for them and we just get kept on hold when we phone them. Very angry as £90 is alot of money to waste, especially on a company like them!!

 becksta at 23rd May 2006, 06:15PM
Really peeed off cos 90 quid was taken off my credit card account about an hour ago.....been putting the phone down on them for the past 2 weeks but today i got pulled into the the false promises of buyers calling me.

called the credit card company and they said i have to wait until the 15th til the money gets taken out as it is still only pending and i cant cancel anything.

has anyone got any advice on how to get money back/ get the credit card company to refund it? saw a msg on here about getting credit card company to do it......need to know how and what i should to say to them? should i tell them i think ive been connned????

help!

Postscript: A nice touch - if they don't sell your car Wisematch send you a brochure for a free weekend break. The only catch is that that you have to pay for meals at the hotels on offer, and they charge a minimum amount whether you take them or not! So the free hotel works out as much as paying for the room...

thanks for this great site, yes i can only repeat all the comments so far what a good con, i was nearly taken in until i pressed on certain points then they dropped of the phone very quickly, i then decided a google search on wisematch services and through this it also up brought up this great site well done keep up the good work.

I would like to thank everyone who has left comments on this site about Wisematch Services Limited. I was almost taken in by them but as they were on the phone trying to convince me to part with my cash I put their name into Google and found this site! Brilliant site, thank you! You have saver me £89.99

 tabby at 13th Mar 2006, 12:43PM
Interestingly Wisematch Services Ltd (Companies House ref 05320214) was only incorporated on 23 December 2004, and hasn't yet submitted accounts to Companies House. I wonder if it ever will...?

 indignant2 at 6th Mar 2006, 11:05AM
Have have been taken in by these people making false promises of buyers who don't materialise.
I have called them daily - interestingly you never get to speak to the same person twice. They pretty quickly decide not to return your calls or give you another number to leave you hanging on..."Your call is very important to us..."!!!
I have been on to Watchdog about them.
Trading Standards next...
And when I get hold of the directors details I'll be on to them too.

 indignant at 4th Mar 2006, 01:36PM
Ok Mr X, so why do they always say there are 3 people interested when there is no-one? How many people actually work there? Do they ever actually sell a car? And how can we get our money back?

 breezer20002000 at 1st Feb 2006, 03:10PM

I can't believe that I was taken in by Wisematch. I asked lots of questions before signing up with them and was pretty comfortable with the credible responses I received; now I find that my car does not even come up when you search their site for it! £89 is a good fee to charge, a worthwhile sting, but not big enough for most people to take them through the courts over. BBC Watchdog programme should get onto them.

 hvincent at 15th Jan 2006, 06:37PM
Get onto your credit card company and get them to credit it back. I've heard it works.

 petergraves at 11th Jan 2006, 09:22PM
Keen to sell my vehicle, I was taken in as well by the sales patter and now regret what i've done especially after visiting this site. I can't believe i fell for it, and intend to pester the b*****ds forever till i get my deposit back.

 wellandtruelyconned at 12th Dec 2005, 04:11PM
Wisematch are relentlessly enthusiastic at contacting you and arranging buyers to see your vehicle...until they've got your money.

The buyers (who have finance already arranged with Wisematch) then evaporate, and any enquiries result in you being fobbed off with a standard "progress report" letter.

They get distinctly hostile if you start asking for refunds or making noises about legal action...

Just hang up on them - don't get sucked in and don't even think about parting with money - it's the last you'll see of it!

Anyone got anywhere in the small claims court with them?

 Papa Bear at 8th Dec 2005, 10:28PM
I can't believe IâÂ?Â?ve been so stupid!!

I started receiving calls from Wisematch as soon as my car was advertised in Autotrader. I turned down the opportunity to register my car with Wisematch on three occasions.

I received a call from Wisematch to say they had matched my car with a client and they had an offer for my car. The salesman asked if he could pass on my contact details to the buyer to which I agreed. He also stated the buyer would arrive to view the car with a bankers draft from Wisematch, he stated I should not release the car until the Bankers draft had cleared. Basically the salesman was very convincing!! The guy (Chris) then went on to state that I would need to leave a deposit of £89 which would be fully refundable once the sale was complete, regrettably I agreed. I have not had a call since.

I have called Wisematch on two occasions and been told by Rob and another lady that someone would respond to me that day with an update on the sale, IâÂ?Â?m still waiting!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

 BOBEND at 23rd Nov 2005, 12:14PM
Haven't visited the site for a while but phoned trading standards yesterday to get progress. Their legal dept is in contact with Wisematch but the only way of actually retrieving money is through the small claims procedure. I am abroad for a few weeks but on return I am going for it. If anyone wants to join me then I'll co-ordinate. Either way I will post the result. Hopefully I can open a floodgate here.

Hey Chloe!
Any idea why your name includes the anagram 'Blo cheater X'?????

 petergraves at 19th Sep 2005, 06:40PM
Well at least "Chloe Baxter" likes them. Any relation to noted Wisematch tout "Louise Baxter" I wonder?

 rdwarr at 18th Sep 2005, 06:15PM
i don't see how anyone can say a bad word about wisematch because ive sold 3 cars through them and i have bought 2 cars through them through finance and cash they are a good genuine company car data and vehicle match are just advertising companies whereas wisematch actually do have the buyers and interests i have recommemended my friends and family to them and if needed i will use them in the future again its the other companies you need to watch out for not wise match!!! they are a genuine company and i recommend them to everyone!!!

 chloebaxter at 17th Sep 2005, 09:29PM
I've been advertising my car for two weeks now in the local autotrader. I haven't had one call from an actual buyer, but I get on average 3 calls a day from Wisematch/profinder and another one but I've got to the point now where I tell them I'll give them the £90 quid when I have a bankers draft in my hand. Yes I've had the abuse that so many others have had "You obviously dont want to sell your car" "We have 2 buyers who have finance and your saying no" etc but even then they just dont give up. Am now adding my complaint to the trading standards, I've contacted autotrader and I'm now thinking of going to the police and using the harrassment act against them ... Not sure if it will work but its worth a try ....

 Jac2402 at 7th Sep 2005, 10:53AM
Re my last message, here is the reply I got from autotrader. It seems to confirm that they are pretty wary of accusing them of operating outside the law.

"Thank you for contacting us and drawing these organisations to our attention. The problem is that once a seller's contact details are published in the public domain, they are available for anyone to use - sellers or canvassers.

However, we are keeping a record of complaints of this nature, and are in contact with our lawyers regarding the possibility of legal action against these companies.

Unfortunately, telling advertisers about these kinds of organisations could end up being a contentious issue as there are legitimate companies that operate. We have published a general warning about canvas companies in the selling advice section of the site: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/CARS/sell/sa/sa-5.jsp but we refrained from putting it in the Car Crime Centre due to the implications that could arise for us from stating that these companies are operating outside the law.

I hope this is of some help,

Regards,

I recently advertised my bike in MCN and received a call from these comedians on the day it came out, telling me they had 3 buyers waiting locally and would post me details of their service - no pushy pitch at this stage so I thought it sounded good. Yesterday I was fortunate to spot an article on this sort of scam in the Mirror about a company called CarData so alarm bells started ringing. Sales guy rang today and gave me the spiel for 15 mins before telling me it would cost me £89.99 which I would get back when bike sold. I asked why he needed the money from me when the company "makes money from the finance deals"? He seemed unable to give a straight answer so I told him I'd give it a miss and he hung up. Glad I did as what I see on this site confirms they are yet another bunch of charlatans - as if there aren't enough in this country already!

 nigel58 at 2nd Sep 2005, 02:26PM
Thanks to this site for forewarning me about Wisematch, Profinder and all the others that have been pestering me this week. I went looking for their websites (to see if they actually had any) and found this site more easily than theirs; it confirmed my suspicions, so thank you all for your contributions. I have written to Autotrader to strongly suggest they put a warning on their site, but I understand now that they may be chicken because both they and Trading Standards have lost court cases against these firms.

I'd love to set them up with a sting, but am leaving the country this month - I hope someone else has the inspiration and fortitude to try and catch them out.
