Well I don't know if the UK operation is any better but Customer Service in the US is non-existent. I am simply amazed at the power of marketing. It's just an inertia thing. Everyone has heard of Norton and just go out and buy this stuff.
I 'bought' PCAnywhere today. Paid good money for it. Downloaded it from the US website and got to the point where it seemed to go off to their website for activation. Then I got a webpage saying that it was no longer available...go buy something else. Ah...hello. You've got my money. Then I made the mistake of trying the support section of the website thinking I could call someone. Huh..fat chance. Little reference in support for this product either.
Finally found a customer service number (India) and they gave me another number. Only it's tollfree and unobtainable from the UK. So I rang again and got another one. Same thing. So I rang again and asked for a non-toll free number...which I eventually got. Then sat on hold for 5 minutes and at long-distance rates gave up. Otherwise I'd be spending another $150 on call charges.
Seriously - there are just as good, if not better, products out there. Do us all a favour and use them instead. Symantec SUCKS.
