Hiya i used to work at amber and alothough the staff are great the mannagement is so poor you wouldnt belive i had to ring people out of the phone book baring in mind that some people are on tellyphone prefrance service. I had some very rude peole on the phone but i could understand were there coming from i mean if i was paying money so i didnt get telly sales calls id exspect not to get them. Im so glad that i walkied out it may not of been proffesinal but it was the best choice, i also didnt like they was they see patentinal customes as a bonus not trying to help them just trying to get money in there back pocket. I do appoligise for the spelling.

This company should belong in the rogue traders gallery for the Midlands. To see why read what they did to my Aunt below.

My Aunt is an 82 year old widow. Several weeks ago a AMBER window fitter working in the area knocked on her door and asked if she was interested in windows. She said NO. He said if she said YES then he would get a BONUS. She then said YES and signed a form. Unknowingly she signed a request for a sales person to visit. 2 days later an Asian sales woman turned up and tried to tell her that the whole house needed new windows and doors. Bear in mind she already has UPVC about 15 years old.
Eventually after 2 1/2 hours she convinced my aunt that the front bay window and upstairs main bedroom window needed replacing. Initial quotation £7500.00 my aunt said NO then after another hour she agreed to have the 2 windows replaced for £4,100.00 just by chance I visited my Aunt the following Saturday and she told me what had happened and showed me the prices. I went ballistick as you dont expect so called reputable companies to do this to nieve little old ladies.
On returning home I e-mailed cancelling the order and also sent a registered letter on Monday cancelling. On Tuesday my Aunt received a aggresive phone call from the shop manager saying you cant cancel, you signed to agree we could manufacture. This is illegal as she had a cooling off period. She phoned me and I have since contacted them telling them to deal with me in future. No manager was prepared to talk to me. Samantha in customer services helped but so far 3 weeks on we are still awaiting the deposit. Trading Standards say they have a bad reputation for this type of thing and that they break the law with the selling tacticks and the cooling off period which should be made clear. Ask them yourselves if you dont believe me.
Since then I have been quoted by a Tamworth company £1,500.00 for the same work. £2,600 cheaper than these rogue traders

This company is located throughout the Midlands stealing money from older and fragile people, help me put a stop to it and please write your review

We went with Amber as we originally went with a small company who went into administration meaning we lost our deposit of £1500. Amber showed us around their factory as we lived nearby in Solihull. The service was fantastic and the fit was superb as Daz and John had been with the family run company for years. Heard they are the biggest independent in the Midlands and been around for 20 years so that was why we went with them and would advocate that they were very impressive.

amber windows have recently fitted replacement windows in my front bay and kitchen. they are a massive improvement on the rotting wooden windows i had before. the fitters did have difficulty getting the old windows out but managed it in the end and with very little mess. Our neighbours have commented on how good the windows look.

Amber came and built a conservatory for me and I can honestly say I have never had workmen so considerate work at my house. The quality of workmanship was second to none. I will gladly use this company again

I have just agreed that Amber Windows replace both my doors and five windows. The salesman did take a long time to explain the product and there was the 'the more you buy. the cheaper the price', the phone calls to others, the 'today' price but I like the product and was happy with the price. The salesman insisted we don't pay until we are completely happy with the doors and windows and the reputation of the company seemed very important to him. I will report back once the job has been completed to see how well the company perform in the fitting and the after-service if there are problems.

i find it amazing that people are very quick to to put someone down if you have had a bad experience with a company then immediatley it is in everyone's nature to put them down to everyone they know i suppose that every person who has slagged off amber windows on here all work for perfect company's who have NEVER made any mistakes you are all perfect some how i dont believe thats true for one second?? i will tell you straight i have worked for amber windows for a very long time and i can assure everyone on here that amber always have and always will try to do there best for every customer who parts with there hard earned money to buy our windows!!! is anyone on here even concerned that there is a recession and that by slating company's off there could be massive job losses and the unemployment could soar through the 3million barrier well all i can say that lets hope its not one of the people on here well lets face it it wont be because all your company's are perfect and have never put a foot wrong you must all work for the goverment !!!!!

It looks like Amber are adding their own feedback again. Last three entries, all with in an hour or two and identical punctuation mistakes.

Already an existing customer and very happy with everything. The fitters were very efficient, on time and left everything tidy

 moooris at 7th May 2008, 11:41AM
I forgot to say earlier, in my quest for a decent company that I would be more than happy to use Amber if I was dyslectic, as they seem to perform particularly well with that type of customer.

 dweezil at 3rd May 2008, 09:48AM
Sometimes comments on these types of sites are a joke. You reckon that Amber Windows have been on here putting on good testimonials just because someone hasn't had the same experience as you. Well, from what I can see you are obviously in competition with Amber Windows and are just entering in bad reviews - you see, it can work both ways!!!

 Ghosthunter at 26th Apr 2008, 01:29PM
awful. No better word for it. And it looks like they have attacked this site by writing their own testimonials!

They insisted for security reasons that both home owners had to be present, when I asked why, they said it was for my security! I think we all know the reaosn why.

The salesman was arrogant, and insisted that the product (Bowater) was only available from them. Which is not true at all.

I understand the need for a demonstration, but dont need half an hour for chit chat.

He asked me what other quotes I have had and where from and then slagged those two companies!
Very unprofessional.
He insisted on me telling him my best quote, because he claimed he could beat it.
If this happens to you, do what I did and dont give it, insisting that you only want their best price and service levels.

I think the window is not that bad, and could have bought it if it wasnt for poor salesmanship, offering me buy it now deals etc.
Its a cheaper lower end product, and as im moving soon it could have suted

 davidpoole at 21st Apr 2008, 01:25PM
I have just had all of my windows and doors fitted by Amber and they have done a lovely job. We looked at prices and their price was about the same as the other 2 quotes we got. The good think about Amber was the turnaround time as they make the products in their large factory which they invited us to in Coleshill. The fitters have been with the company a long time so they were skilled and experienced guys. Their customer service dept kept us informed and we highly recommend them as this is the second time we have used them. There are a lot of back-street companies out these but at least this one has been going a long time and should see my guarantee through. Well done Amber.

 SarahF at 6th Mar 2008, 12:02PM
My experience is that we were both asked to be present and I was informed they would be there about 1.5 hours!! Other companies only take 15 minutes. They then wanted to sit down and go through their folder. Everything was we can do tha in a bit! It took ages with the whole folder of stuff to look at. Even though I rushed him along, he was still here ages (1hr 15 mins). The price was double. Their sales tactics include phoning into the office at every available opportunity and making up stories of other jobs, including 'listed' buildings, they were working on. How they could do the job straight away! Apparently their windows are make to the hole size and if your gap is not straight, they make the window on the bend to match!! Rather than fill the gap!! Big pressure to sign on the day, to see what the daily offers are. however, when they rang the manager, he didn't ask to give us a bigger offe. However, if we did sign, they probably could easily cut the price in half!!! Don't know what their work is like, but I don't trust them to part with my hard earned cash to find out. Too many vary obvious sales pitches which old and vulnerable people will obviously fall for.

 mylibra72 at 1st Mar 2008, 11:37AM
The sales manager who came out to quote us for window was very helpful, also the fitting of the window went well too & looked very nice, i noticed the next day 1 of the windows had a gap in it so let a huge draft through, i rang after sales to sort problem out and after a week i am still waiting for problem to be sorted, my living room has been very cold since my window was fitted!

On 20th October 2007 I left comments on this website concerning my experience of the sales technique employed by Amber Windows and the negative impression of the company generated as a result.
This evening, some 10 weeks later, I perused Blagger.com again to read recent observations left by others concerning Amber Windows. I was surprised then amused by the large number of comments left by the individual “amber windows” all highly praising the firm but crudely purporting to be left by different people – (Ms H from Birmingham, Mr & Mrs Salt from Derby, Mrs E from Great Barr etc. etc. etc.). The pathetically obvious deception and atrocious spelling compounded the impression that the remarks had been left by a halfwit.
I leave other readers of the page to form their own opinion as to the motive of this dyslectic individual; as of 8/1/2008 he/she left eleven positive comments concerning Amber Windows and none for any other firm.
So as not to personally distort the blagger rating of the firm I'm not leaving a feedback rating on this occasion.
