I feel like such an idiot, i emailed customer care there, but looks like im starting the long process just to get my £50 back, thanks first stop, for depriving me of £50 when i needed it most, and filling my family with false hope

Boy do i owe you all a big thanks. I was just about to send off the required £47.95 fee to this company after receiving their letter saying i had been acepted for a loan. I thought it was odd that i had to send them money first and reckoned I should check them out - am i glad I did. When people apply for a loan it's because they NEED cash help and are probably not in the position to part with nearly £50 in the first place. Companies like this are only making matters worse for those who find themselves in unfortunate financial situations and giving them false hope.I will not be sending them any money up front and have just put their 'partially filled form for my covenience' through the shredder. Thank you all.

WHY DONT WE TELL WATCHDOG ABOUT THIS SO CALLED COMPANY. I am writing this on behalf of my daughter in Law who as a single mother of two applied for a loan from this "company" back in August 2007 she had the same letters that are mentioned by others and a request for £47.95, after nearly a month guess what, yes a rejection letter. She then started to try and get her money back, to no avail and she said that the staff were extreamly rude. So in light of this my wife and I have decied to pursue things on her behalf, we have spoken to Trading Standards and they siad that this happens all the time and we should write to them asking for the money to be refunded which we will be doing today. My wife phoned First Stop Loans and she can confirm that they are extreamley rude. I have checked the company out and the Company Registration refers to Financial Answers Ltd, which to be fair is stated on their letterhead, however what they do not state is their Nett Worth as a company and their Working Capital both leave a lot to be desired I would strongly reccomend anyone who is thinking of using this company to firstly check out their financial status and then secondly STAY WELL CLEAR

I applied for a loan - they took £50 of me to arrange it, £50 I could ill afford, but I thought, well if they are going to sort out a loan it is money well spent. I am still waiting, and it has been nearly 9 months, they have still got my £50 and I still haven't been sorted out for loan. I wish I had stumbled across this web site before I coughed up £50. When I have phoned I have been kept waiting, I wrote to them they send a letter back saing give us a ring, talk about a vicious circle! HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED - AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!

stop!!!! as the name says it all it puts a stop to your progress first!!!!! - first stop!

who ever is considering taking out a loan with first stop loans, i would say stop!!!!!!!!!!!

They will write to you such a promising letter and when you are going through a bad phase financially this sounds very promising.

I happily Wrote them a cheque for around 50 quid and guess what i lost it.....

The Staff of first stop loan are also very rude... i beleive they are trainned in this manner. do you know when some is lying to you and how they get defensive and angry, well this is first stop loans.

They should be shut down... I dont even think they are regulated by the financial services authority.

first stop loans you are name and shamed...... shame on your unethical behaviour....

I received a letter today from first stop loans asking me to pay them £49.50 and I decided to see if they were a reputable company. I felt that it was a bit weird that to give me a loan I would have to pay money and I am glad that I read all these comments which reassured me that this was a joke. I aint buying into it!

thank god i thought on and checked this company out on the internet! seems they seem to be sending random letters out to people saying they can give them a loan. i recieved one yesterday for £1000 and was goin to ring them today! good job i thought on!

 munki at 15th Jun 2007, 10:21AM
We had a letter from this company too saying our £1000 loan had been approved, we had never asked them for a loan, but several months before had asked and received a loan from another company so I guess they got our details from them or the broker who put us in touch with our company. Anyway the letter arrived just a couple of weeks before we were due to go on holiday, and being a bit skint we thought we would have the loan. Phoned them up they said they would send us a form to fill in and would receive our money within 5 days, no mention of having to send them nearly £50 first! Decided to look the company up on here and came across this site - Glad I did! We got our letter then next day asking for a postal order or bankers draft or if we must a cheque ( which takes 5 working days to clear). How naughty of them! I've written a letter and put it in with the form telling them that they nearly ripped me off like they have many others but found some interesting reading about them on the internet which changed my mind! I don't suppose I'll get a reply but it made me giggle when I posted it!

 bettyboopjulie at 31st May 2007, 10:32PM
was also ripped off by this company after a number of weeks not recieving my loan i finally got through on the phone (this can take up to an hour) asked for my money back and was told i would have to apply in writing , i said this was unacceptable was hung up on for being abusive i never raised my voice was polite at all times . i rang back was called a moron and hung up on again no matter how desperate things get stay well clear keep your fifty quid . i will see them in the small claims court!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i recieved a letter from first stop loans saying i had been accepted so i gave them a call and they said they were going to send me a letter out to sign. two weeks later i still never recieved the letter after calling them a number of times during this time. the last time i spoke with them they asked me if i had a friend where they could send the letter to their address. the next day the letter was sent. my friends mum rang first stop to make sure i wasnt applying for the loan at her address which i clarrified with first stop loans it was still set up to my address and was reassured it was. but now my friends mum has gone to the police because first stop have said i applied for the loan on their address. i havnt got a contact number for them now so it would be helpful if some one could enter it in one of their comments. thanks.

hi i just got a letter today from first stop loans saying that they bevelive that they could help me with a loan of £5.000 pound.could anybody tell me if this is a good compny

 ant35 at 16th May 2007, 06:37PM
Thank god I found this site!!!

I too received a letter today telling me that my detals had been passed onto them by a company I had applied to last year. They said they could give me a £6000 loan.

Now I've come across many of these companies before where you have to pay a fee loike this and then they reduce it later on to encourage you to use them, but i can safely say i will never send any money to any of these peopple because i just dont believe they should be charging for this. The way it should work, is that because they are a broker, then the loan company who they put you in touch with should be paying the fee to them as an introductory fee, YOU shouldnt be expected to pay for this service upfront.

i wouldnt mind if they got me a loan and then deducted the amoutn as a fee from the loan, but they shouldnt be charging you upfront.

 debzy at 27th Apr 2007, 10:42PM
Well, Thank goodness I found this website.

I was sent a letter from first stop loans who informed me that I had been accepted for a loan -all I had to do was to send them £47.95p. I did not respond to their offer because I had a bad feeling about having to pay them money upfront. Some months later first stop loans wrote to me again, informing me that they were still willing to help me obtain a loan but first I would have to pay them £27.95p. This amount is, as you can see, considerably less than the original sum of money they demanded from me. However, after having read about the experiences of others who have paid first stop loans the required sums of money and not obtaining their loans or not even hearing from first stop loans after that, I have decided not to send them any money.

 kirstylewis at 31st Mar 2007, 09:37AM
I have E-mailed the address at customerinquiries@firststoploans.co.uk

Sent 2 messages in 4 weeks and still not had a reply.

Plus they still have my money, and their still claiming they haven't recieved my cheque.

How long must one wait after the cheque has cleared????? Not 2 months lol

 fluffy_craig at 15th Mar 2007, 03:14PM
The law STATES that any company charging "administration fees" MUST refund the WHOLE fee bar £5. £5 is ALL they can legitmately keep to cover their costs - this is covered by The Consumer Credit ACT. I would suggest you issue a small claims court summons (you will win hands down) you have to pay the court fee of £30 but you will get that back when you win - you can also add in say £100 for distress, phone calls etc. Care this company is part of the FT Partners Group.
