I just so wish someone had warned me about Comet on time!I bought a laptop there 8 months ago and also extended warranty for it costing £100 (if damaged they'd still fix it or give me another one).About a month ago,the laptop broke down, the warranty people say it was damaged(motherboard)and sent me £100 bill as their ordinary warranty did not cover it,I went to Comet and they said they'd send the IT people details of my extended warranty and pay for the repair themselves. The details never arrived there. The laptop people called me several times asking why Comet had not sent them those details to start the repair straight away. I went to Comet every day for 5 days to be told the details had been sent, but may have been delayed "somewhere in the chain",their own head office or similar. The IT people called and said that if they had the warranty details before them, they'd repair the laptop very promptly as it was in the workshop.I called some Comet customer services at the HO,they said they could just call the manager of my store and ask him to call me,that's all.No one has ever called me,no one has ever told me what is going on...I work from home and I was losing money. 10 days after Comet told me the details of my extended warranty had been sent, the IT people called me to say the details had never arrived and that they doubted the Comet's version and they were sending the laptop back to Comet unrepaired.I burst into tears! I went back to Comet, they did not know anything about my laptop at all, then unearthed it from somewhere and the manager asked a guy to try it...They just did not care or were up to date!No one had looked at the papers when it arrived, but they just chucked it in a back room weeks after it broke down!I explained what had happened and the guy said Then we'll send it back to them again.I demanded a deadline,he said an extra month, meaning about 2 months without a laptop. I asked for replacement like they had said when i bought the ext.warranty, they said it was not possible. So that was a lie to start with!I've had to buy a second-hand laptop, lost money all round,am so behind in work,I've struggled to sleep, cried many times...I cannot believe that this store is allowed to exist at all! My strong advice is to stay away from Comet and never enter their doors. They do not give a damn about the customer,I strongly feel, they seem to be completely disorganized and when you buy something there, and if it goes wrong, even with expensive extended warranty, you enter a black hole that you cannot get out of.I have contacted CAB now...

Bought a LG Home Cinema System in June this year broke down went online reported the fault they told me to take into store. The advisor told me they would send it off for repair could take between 14 and 28 days. I was appalled by this as I cant go over xmas without the dvd player I asked for an exchange the so called manager refused point blank asked for head office got home called them they refused to help only offering a repair so I called consumer direct they explained as the product was only 6 months old I can have an exchange, went back on the phone to their head office again stated that I wanted an exchange they again refused I explained to this person that in their leaflet they offer 4 possibilities and that they were only given me 1 option got nowhere I know have to go out and purchase another player I will never by anything ever again from Comet their staff are ill mannered as so are their head office.

Pity I didn't read comments before buying from Comet. Purchased dishwasher x2 faults within 4 months, nil customer service from Comet, locally and from head office, only rudeness and inflexible company policies. Will NEVER buy from Comet again. At present following Consumer Direct advice in dealing with them.

Summary of buying an expensive (£1500) fridge freezer from Comet.

The item arrived and we were immediately told it could not be installed. When asked why, we were told a connection was needed which had never been mentioned before. So we booked it again, and it was confirmed that we did not need said part and that Comet would take care of us. Slightly sceptic we called the store as well as the customer service department; don't worry we were told, we will fit the fridge for you.

Inevitably our fitter arrived, told us he was not a plumber and that the part needed was missing. He also said he was cancelling the installation on the system and we would get re-funded. I am something of a non - practical person, but I managed to fit it myself.

A few weeks later I called Comet just to see what the job status was (i.e. had I been refunded). Job listed as complete on system. I explained what had happened; oh yes, they said, there IS a note stating that your connection was on the wrong side (!!!??) so it could not be fitted. So where is my re-fund? I now have to wait upto 28 days to get the money I paid for a twice failed installation (which meant I took 2 days off work for Comet to let me down twice, mislead and effectively lie to me)which I have had to chase down.

I ended the call stating that as I have just moved house I need to further buy;
1. Large screen TV
2. Washing machine
3. Dishwasher
4. Oven
5. Drier
Was there anything Comet could do to make me feel like they actually cared about me as a customer?
No.

I thanked them on behalf of Currys and Argos.

Bought a fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Both arrived damaged. Dishwasher replaced with a 2nd F/F. dishwasher was fine but F/F damaged.
Waited in a further 4 times and now, 5 F/F later I have one I presume works (not plugged in yet as have to wait 2 hours).
Was offered a repair for the first one and that was a joke.
I then get a letter asking me to pay almost £95 for a further guarantee - they are joking!!!
No 'sorry' from comet, no one cares.
Seems I am not alone in this.

5 weeks without a candy washing machine.
2 visits to 'try' to fix it and customer 'service' and communication which is the worst on the planet.
NO ONE will take ownership of the problem...they are a disaster!!

Do not buy anything from them if you expect even a modicum of after sales service!!

i would never buy from comet again, i bought a laptop form their store and been treated terrible. they will not give you a refund or repalce for faulty goods, my laptop has been back about 5 times now, and they refuse to give me a new one, its had many faults, since the day i got it,, they said i should have examined it when i bought it,, they pass the blame on to the customer,, it had screws missing out the back, the mic stop working then it started to switch it self off.. again i was to blame for it over heating,,, never again would i buy from comet all togther they have had my laptop for over 6 weeks now, trying to fix the faults.

i ordered a indesit washing machine from comet website on 26th february 09, to be delivered and connected and installed, at a cost of 29.31. The delivery was done for saturday 28th february 09, the delivery was great, the machine was great, but the connection was a none starter, as the two hopeless so called plumbers were useless, as they were supposed to disconnect the old machine, as all new machines are cold fill only, as my old one was hot and cold fill, they said that they were unable to disconnect hot hose, so they didnt do anything and told me to get my own plumber, and they would reinburse the money for the delivery, connection and installation, which up to now i have not received, i will give it till tomorrow friday 6/3/09, if not got it back by then they can have the machine back. there is no warnings of this on there internet site when ordering that you have a hot and cold connection, there plumbers have no competence of fitting. in the end i had to pay out 30.00 for an plumber.
