I've had a generally positive experience with Amazon, and I've been using them for years. The only problem I've ever had was when a Nintendo DS I ordered was lost in the post, and they couldn't get me a replacement before Christmas.

Saying that, they apologised and promptly refunded me.

Great company. I've made many purchases over the years and always had good experiences.

After an appalling experience with Play.com, I went to Amazon. (See my Play.com Blagg) I made my order and immediately received an email confirming that the order was paid!! Yippee... Three hours later I got another email saying some of my order had been despatched!! Yipppeee... Next day Posty arrives with parcels!!! Yippppeeee.... Something in Britain works!!!! Three weeks later after Christmas..... 1 item DVD (Who wants to be a millionaire) was faulty, so had to print a returns label from Amazon... very easy, except my girlfriends printer ran out of ink, so I lost the form. I went home and called Amazon to get another return label.... I got through in 39 seconds, not to an automatic response, but to a person a real person!!!!! albeit in America.... This guy knew about customer service!!!! I got an email while I was still speaking to him with a new return form.... YIPPPPPPEEEEEEEE..... I sent the item back... Within 24 hours they had sent a replacement... Sadly the Royal Mail lost it.... So out of goodwill Amazon sent a second replacement!!! Yipp..... Okay you're getting board of those.... All I can say Amazon did everything possible to make life easy. Thank you Amazon.

Amazon as a seller are awful. Awful services, awful delivery estimates (even on next day delivery) and awful customer service representatives on the phone. I purchased an order (for next day delivery) on the 24th November and have been told to wait till 3rd December before I can do anything about it. Phone them up. The long boring sentences there advisers come out with can be shortened to "Meh" or "Not my order so why should I care?"

However every third party that I have ordered from on amazon have been amazing eve if slightly more expensive (about £2 usually). items I have ordered have beenm dispatched earlier than the date estimate and in some cases even delivered before the dispatch estimate.

My advice. If you are going to use amazon. Use there third party companies.

I have used Amazon.co.uk for many years, and have never had any problem with their service or products, except on one occasion, when the item was returned and a refund followed immediately.

I have ordered from Amazon for many years and have they have always delivered exactly what was ordered and within the timescales I expected it.
Fantastic company.

Appaling company no replys to emails. failed to deliver goods, and can not get them to respond in any form. I will now have to contact my credit card company to try and recover my money. Will never use again.

I have been using amazon for four years now, since I got my first debit card. And in that time I have only ever had one problem. I ordered around £50 worth of books. It's now 10 months down the line, and I have still to receive that delivery. I have emailed countless times (not one of which has been replied to, and when I did manage to get a customer service person, I was told that the order was marked as delivered. She didn't actually say so but I got the impression she thought I was fibbing.

Apart from that, A service and company.

I ordered a CD last Sunday not expecting I would receive it until after Christmas. It arrived before 8.45 am on Wednesday which, to me, is very impressive. I will certainly use them again. Thank you, Amazon.

I order some toys from Amazon and they were delievered in the specified time frame without any problems days before Xmas. Whilst CDjungle.com are using Xmas as an excuse for taking over 3 weeks to deliver one CD, Amazon.com are just getting on with it. Will definetely use them again, CDJungle are awful!!!

Recently bought 'Civ City : Rome' for PC from Amazon, but could not get it to install. Tried everything possible to get it to work - no joy. Faulty disk.

I went through the Amazon returns procedure online explaining the problem and asked for a replacement. You have to print out a return label to post the problem goods back.

However, in less than an hour of finishing the procedure, I had an email from Customer support saying not only would they send a replacement immediately, there was no need to return the original one sent.

Well done Amazon.

I think Amazon are brilliant to do business with. I ordered an Intuos Tablet costing about £300.00. I wasn't happy with it as there appeared to be a chip on one edge, as soon as I contacted them, they arranged for another one to be dispatched immediately and arranged collection for the damaged one. All in time for Xmas. I never hesitate to use them. If you are buying from Market Sellers than you should do your research and you shouldn't have any hiccups.

I used to be an amazon seller until they blocked my account. I sold mobile phone unlocking software under the mobile phone section. I used to sell the same thing on ebay without incurring any problems. I didn't realise you can't sell unlocking software on amazon. Anyway they blocked my account for LIFE. I have subsequently tried to open another seller account, but that was also blocked straight away. I have used different addresses and bank accounts and they still block me and they have blocked my family. How stupid, you make one little mistake and they block everyone in your house. I have sent letters and emails to amazon and they have failed to reply. Poor customer service. Unfriendly company. DONT USE AMAZON.

Until about mid 2005 I had been using Amazon frequently for buying books and cds and some electronics, audio etc. I had very little experience of difficulties during that time. However, I have had some recent problems, including a customer service agent hanging up the phone on me. I had complained about my Creative Zen mp3 player which packed in after only six months. The Amazon customer services employee said I should contact the manufacturer and then he slammed down the phone. My emails have been ignored. I only just got a partial refund from them (April 2006).This has made me very nervous about dealing with Amazon, now I won't order anything with a value over £20 anymore( the zen cost £160.)The Marketplace sellers are OK if they have a feedback score above 92%. Never go with anyone with a score below 85% I have been ripped off a few times. If the item you want is only available from a seller with an under 88% score then don;t go near it; it's not worth the hassle. It is worth pointing out that many internet customers complain unjustly; for example if an item has been delayed in the post due to a Bank holiday, it is not the fault of the seller if he/she sent out the item 1st class on the day of the order.
Similarly, if a seller has provided an excellent fast service, good condition polite service etc, the customers are sometimes too busy or too plain selfish to give the seller a good feedback. I used to think that ''the seller is getting paid, why do they expect favourable comments also?'' I now know that the purpose of feedback is a matter of reporting good or bad service for future customers of that seller to make an informed choice. If you order from an Amazon Marketplace seller, you are not going to be pleased for a problematic service if past customers have not bothered to submit their bad experiences on the feedback form.Conversly, you are going to wish you found out about a seller before when you get a good experience. This is becaause past buyers have taken the good service for granted. Bottom line is; yes we all expect a good service, but reality is something else.

I've bought dozens of book from Amazon marketplace (3rd party sellers), and I'm very impressed. More choice than Ebay - and the feedback system seems to sort the reliable sellers from the sharks (I only buy from 100% positive seller) - my advice would be to read the feedback before ordering.

Whilst purchasing a computer cable I decided to add to the order some bargain price items that caught my eye and when I reached the point to pay with my card the total amount appeared to be around £25. I was then amazed, on confirming the payment to receive an email from Amazon thanking me for my order valued with postage at over £48. Incredible postage charges had been added : a mousemat which arrived in a jiffy bag by 1st class post was charged at £4.50. Likewise a pack of 4 AA batteries. 3 packs of AA batteries which arrived in a jiffy bag were charged at £13.50. it was impossible to simply cancel the order because they had been subcontracted to 3rd parties and I would have had to contact each one individually. On complaining to Amazon that they had not made it clear exactly what the postage charges would be I was told that standard fixed category charges had been applied and that it was my own fault for buying the items - each item was classified as 'electronic' and the charge applied equally to a mousemat or piece of equipment. I shall never ever buy another thing from Amazon - I consider that I have been taken for a ride.
