I have been trying to find out, via 'Customer Service' when my Conservatory is likely to be built. Unfortnately no-one answers the phone on the advertised number. Emails to 'Customer Service' result in rude responses and suggest using the 'Custoner Service' phone line! This would be a joke if it weren't for the fact that Weatherseal have had a lot of my money since February. I was promised my Conservatory by Easter - which year? If I could get someone to speak to me I would cancel my order. The brochure makes wonderful claims, the salesman was plausible, what a shame the service doesn't live up to them. They weren't the cheapest quote but I thought, obviously mistakenly, that the company was an established, reputable organisation. You live and learn. I will now use a small, professional, local company.

Just a little note to thank Weatherseal for the brilliant job their staff did with my replacement windows. I can’t tell you how pleased I was with the two young men who fitted them. They were so polite and punctual and they worked so hard. They made no mess whatsoever which meant a lot to me. Also, the Salesman and Surveyor were very good at their jobs.

Thank you All,

Weatherseal were fine - very good quality, perfectly measured, all fitted in 2.5 days, within two weeks of the quote, clean, poite, helpful workmen. I was really concerned as my elderly parents had just agreed to renew their old double glazing and some doors - a massive job. But they negotiated firmly, getting the price down to a third of the quote. The house is noticeably warmer and even the cat likes the new door's cat flap. Excellent service.

For Pitlane....Trading standards got my money back in about 3 weeks. I had been trying myself for ages. Dont't give up - thats what they want!A lesson learned for both of us.

 goodwindows at 1st Oct 2008, 04:31PM
i had to cancel my order with weatherseal as i could not get permission to have the double glazing put in. this was 4august 2008.since then they have given me 3 dates they said they would repay my deposit needless to say they still have not repaid this.i am now going to the trading standards to see if they can help.when i canceled the order the rep rang to say that the frames had been made. but in the contract i had it put that i needed permission first
they where not very pleasant about it

 pitlane at 14th Sep 2008, 10:45AM
They say you can't judge a book by it's cover.
Well I say you can when they change the cover but the book remains the same.
Weatherseal is the new trading name for Space Kitchens. Anyone wishing to use this company should check out the Blabber page for Space Kitchens and I am sure you can expect much the same style of dis-service.
Be warned...

we had weatherseal round to give us a quote and the price they gave us seemed very good so we signed up because the salesman told us they would make the windows and install them within 2 weeks. i could go on for ages about how infuriated this company made me. i wish i had seen this website first. in the end i had to get trading standards to get my money back. i then got the windows and doors done buy a local company with a very good reputation and guess what - cheaper! my advice would be to get the local company with the best reputation like i did. i had to wait a few months but that was because they were so busy. after this experience i will never ever use any national company that does its business the way that weatherseal does. i got a lot of promises and as soon as they had my cheque they disappeared. every time i phoned the worst costumer services department in the world i just got fobbed off. from now on i will only use local companies.

Last Saturday we had a telephone call asking, would we be interested in windows, doors or fascia, soffits etc. from a new company offering big discounts. We had for some time been considering having new fascias etc.fitted, and so agreed for the rep to visit.
Following the usual two hours or so of explaining why we should choose weatherseal, we were given a quote of £3240, eventually following several calls to his manager, this was reduced to £1675, a figure that I considered to be reasonably fair.
On Monday the surveyor called to measure up and said that the job would most probably be carried out in the next few days.
Tuesday My wife received a phone call from Weatherseal telling her that the the rep had under quoted and that the price was now £2875, an increase of £1200 or 71 percent.
We immediatly cancelled the order, wether or not this was a fair price I am not going to argue, but I am certainly not open to doing business with a company that operates in this way.
I would be very interested to hear if anybody else has had a similar experience.

I've had trouble with Weatherseal and I read some of the comments, one good one from Freedom Writer 13 who said about Weatherseal settling out of court. Could I ask Freedom Writer to contact me to tell me what the outcome was as I'd like to take them to court for distress caused. We are pensioners. Please contact me to tell me how you did it. Many thanks. Bill.

Had a Weatherseal sales rep around last night.
Decent enough bloke. Gave usual spiel and measured up.
For small porch, he quoted nearly 12k... he asked if this was acceptable... i laughed at him and asked if he was serious... He was.!!!! After banging on about finance (we were never going that route) he made a few phone calls to "his boss" and if we signed ther and then we could have it done for 9k... still at least 3 times what other companies quoted.
The windows he showed looked nice, but beware, they are extremely expensive. We have gone with another company with similar style windows and have got it to 2.5k... my advice, shop around, compare, never accept first offers and be strong. Price will come down, and if it doesnt, there loss.

What do I like about this company.....Nothing.

Ok the work they did was good but the sales reps and customer care as well as their pay scheme in all honesty scares me.

Last year my mum (Widower) decided she wanted roof lining. The guy from Weatherseal came out and quoted her. She accepted and informed the guy that she would pay by cash. He refused and told my mum to go on to pay scheme through G E Money. Again my mother argued that she didn't want this but the guy told her to take it on then near Xmas pay it off and it wouldn't charge any extra. So my mum signed up and a week later the work was done.

We were pleased with the work and so three weeks later my mum decided to look into a new front door. The meant to be head sales guy came out. Sat in our house for a bout two hours and talking about anything but work. He was really nice and we didn't mind him hanging about. My mum got the price and again wanted to pay by cash. The sales rep told her to put on pay scheme and he would set this up through the one that was already on going. My mum okd this and the sales rep told us that he knew a wee guy that could do with the sale and he would come out tomorrow and complete it.

At this point I should have told them where to jump but thought that in someway that was kind of nice that he was looking out for his own. What a big mistake. The young guy came out the next night. Confirmed what the manager sales rep confirmed and got my mum to sign all documents which had the new amount for roof lining and door. A week later the door was in and again very happy with the work.

A few months later my mum noticed that G E Money are going into her account for two amounts. Shocked she called them. Told us to contact Weatherseal. We did and I think they must be the most unhelpful company I have ever had dealings with.

Let just say my mum is paying double for the roof lining. Claiming that the second amount is for the door only which was the cheaper item may I say of the two. We are not getting anywhere fast. I have been forced to contact the Judge in the Sunday Mail.

Got a letter from Weatherseal after the Judge was in contact. They say we owe them. So contacted the Judge again. We will need to watch this space.

So advise I would give is don't go with Weatherseal and if you do fight them not to go on a pay scheme and do not pay them a penny till work is done and you are happy.

Do not sign any thing until you have read all items on the paper.

I would also like to hear from anyone that has had similar experiences with them. Please email me through this site.

Good luck to all fighting them……

We had a guy round last night for a quote on 4 average size windows and two very small windows and his quote was £17887. I laughed and told him his quote was an insult to my intelligence, he then said £11317, I laughed again as I had three quotes from other companies all under £3000, I showed him one quote for £2475, so he then went to £4715, I told him this was still to high, He went on to tell me about a 86 year old man who still had weatherseals old aliminium windows and was now changing them after 25 years and that he was getting them done one by one because he couldn't afford the cost.
I am not surprised the poor 86 year old pensioner who wouldn't know any better but to take your quote couldn't afford them all at once when you are quoting such high prices,
the poor man will be dead and buried before he sees his last window fitted,he then said take it or leave it, So I left it, he annoyed me from the start when he started sending and receiving text from his wife during our appointment, very rude
will never use weatherseal again

 alimoff at 16th Apr 2008, 02:04PM
We had our Windows and Doors replaced by Supreme O Glaze (Now Weatherseal) in 2002
They were badly fitted and of bad quality and we have had problems with them every year since then.
When we call them with a problem it usually takes about 3 months for them to actually come round and have a look. Then you have to wait for someone else to come round and attempt to fix the problem.
In November we called them to have someone come round to look at the seals inside of the windows which are broken, leaking and causing a lot of condensation. Mid Jan someone comes round to have a look and says he will submit his report and we will hear from them. NOTHING. I called yesterday and was advised that no report has been submitted and the employee has left so I will have to have someone else come round before the problem can get fixed. In the meantime I have a windowseal and wall going mouldy due to the condensation.
All the so called "customer service" staff are extremely unhelpful and rude and go out of their way to fob you off - that is when they actually bother to answer the phones.
All they are after is your money, once they have it they do not give a damn.
By the way the 10 year guarantee is useless and means nothing. You only have 6 years under the supply of Good and Services Act.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Campaign of harrassment by call centre:

I had a Weatherseal salesman round for a quote a few weeks ago. He tried to slag off other companies, then told us that he was not supposed to do that.

We were firm and told him that we were not going to sign anything there and then without thinking about the quote.

The quote was not competitive, and we didn't go ahead.

Since then I have been at the receiving end of what I can only describe as a campaign of harrassment by Weatherseal's Call Centre.

The Call Centre phone continually demanding the same information, and staff I have spoken to are rude, and slam the phone down when they don't think that they are getting anywhere with a sale.

The harrassment is unacceptable, and I wish I had never contacted them in the first place.

I would advise anyone to avoid this company.

My partner and I had a Weatherseal sales rep out to visit us last night. Firstly he should have arrived at 9.00, we got a call to say it would be 9.30 (not a big problem). So he arrives at 9.30...
We asked him to quote us on all the windows and doors in our house - but had to sit through 2 hours of complete drivel on how bad the industries other suppliers were before we could even get as far as a tape measure. At least 30 minutes were spent on showing us how wonderful his window example was (I must admit it was well made and a good product, but he told us that their's was the ONLY one of this type, today we had safestyle windows out - lo and behold, it's almost the same).
Once the tape measure did come out it was like being at a local car garage... lots of oooh's and aaah's. We told him the style of windows we required and he would not let us have them, then we finally get to the price (turned midnight!!).
He gave us a first quote of £18,000, as you would expect we sat there with shocked expressions on our faces (this is a three bedroomed house, not a mansion). Then we start with the guessing game - guess how much we can do them for you? I guessed £14,000 and my partner guessed £12,000 (neither prices we would even consider paying). Would you be happy if I could do them for you at a cost of £8000? (but only if we said "yes" there and then. I said I'd be happier if he'd do them for £2,000, at this time my partner said "I'll let you know tomorrow as we have other companies coming to give us quotes" at which his face almost hit the floor.
Out comes his phone, "I'll just talk to the manager and see if we can hold the price until tomorrow for you" (it's now 1.00am!!!). The sales rep waffled for a few minutes to the manager who then (surprise, surprise) wants to speak to my partner. On the phone he goes and gets an offer of £6,000 (but again, only if we sign now). At this point my partner (and myself) have both had more than enough and asked him to leave with a promise that we would call him to let him know the outcome of our deliberations. It still took a further 15 minutes to get him to the door and finally get shot of him (a good job he went, my partner was ready to throw him out if he didn't leave).
Safestyle arrived today (on time), we told him measure the windows and give us a quote - the rep took out his tape measure, measured the windows (in the style we wanted), gave us a quote, explained the windows (almost identical to Weatherseal), and went away quite happily with a promise of us calling him back with our decision. He has now got our custom as it only took him an hour to complete the whole sales pitch - A VERY LARGE THUMBS UP TO THE SAFESTYLE REP WHO CALLED AND A VERY LARGE THUMBS DOWN TO WEATHERSEAL!!

twice i have responded to slaes phone calls and asked for a sales person to come out as i have a leaky window.First salesgirl came out and did not know how to use and inch tape , couldnt measure my windows but still came up with a price of £ 8,000.??? She didnt know how to open the demo window and couldnt answer any of the questions about fire regulations.I complained but did not recieve an apology. A year later after another phone call i arranged for a sales person to come . After 5 phone calls i recieved a discount code and told a salesman would call...im still waiting so ive decided to go elsewhere and tell everyone i know about this shoddy treatment. Too much competition out there and if you are going to treat future clients with that much disrespect, dont do to to a journalist....

UNWANTED PHONE CALLS: >TRY THIS<

Ptetend to be interested, say you want windows, say your definitely in the market, great - comments, great firms remarks by you, when they phone to fix the appoinment tell the appt fixer your wasting their time to get revenge on nuisance calling you, etc, take it from me your problems are then over. Tell her that on the next 3 calls you get you will have the rep to come out and will waste his / her time. And thats the end of nuisance calls. Another dodge is to say you ordered it last night, or the week before and are sat awaiting delivery, your name comes of the call list. My good advice-to pay for it you owe the Lifeboat men a £1.00 charity donation. Sales rep 1955= 2008.

I've been selling for 50 years, top this, top that person. Attended interview, got started, went Monday 10am for training, a 3 day course, By 11.30 am I'd heard enough, disgusted I never went back after the lunch break. I was told about a variety of wise moves, or good sales tactics, the clients were mentioned as if they were Pigs who swallow any swill. I was shown a number of orders taken. AT THAT time they were doing the 'SHOWHOUSE SWINDLE'. Taken from the script "And we will send clients to your house, you show them your windows, use your house as a showhouse and everyone who buys you will get £100 from us, it certainly beats working and gives you an income for life, and you can expect a small fortune in referral fees. So in the end the windows cost you nothing. I knew it was all a con. What annoyed me was the Manager had signed up a woman ambulance driver up in Thirsk, A19 area [he said] the quote patter started off at £10 000, dropped to £8800, but say yes now and because its a showhouse you can have it for £5500, the saleman laughed here, he was the instructor, because the split on overages was about £2200 , so he got £1100 extra. I complained, issued a summons, they paid me out £4000.00 with no fuss whatsoever. I rightly claimed they had tried to entice me into joining in on a scandulous con game, that I had set my heart on this job working out and was now thanks to them and my inner honesty unemployed and looking elsewhere. So we agreed £4000 was right and proper. I had kept the actual ambulance womans order form with all its embarrassing notes and contents so I had valid proof - if it went to court. Just remember you can do what I did -bite back. A poster on here talks about 'You signed the order form so don't moan.' WRONG. We need fair trading, good value, and equal pricing. Not to be charged £1000 extra for overages. All wrong and very unfair. This was about 6 years ago, so applies to events which happened in year 2000. Leeds branch.

 Top Saleperson / Reliable at 12th Jan 2008, 10:04PM
What a bunch of moaning minnies. I see here, people moaning because they signed a contract with Weatherseal and think it was a mistake. Everyone elses mistake, not their own! I also see ex-employees moaning because they feel they were hard done by. They were. They were not upto the job of selling a product that sells itself and their own business failed. I have been in sales for many years and seen many of these types come and go because they think selling is about forcing something on someone. No one will buy if you try and force them to, which makes a mockery of all those people who claim to have been pressured into a sale. The guy who exagerated the commission figures and thought he would expose the tactics made me laugh! He obviously never worked in sales before because he just revealed the tactics of almost every sales organisation in the world!
I used to work for Weatherseal and left because I fell out with my boss, that's life. I do not feel the need to blame the company at all. I am thinking about returning in fact, because he is no longer there. I was successful at Weatherseal and had a lot of cutomers in my time. They all had my mobile number and the only time anyone phoned me on a negative issue was when we had not fitted end caps (pvc that covers screws). We had run out and we fitted them a few days later. In any large organisation there are always a few shortcomings now and again, just look at your phone or utillities provider or your bank, travel company etc, etc. Big companies are big because they are successfull, they are not as likely to leave you stranded as small ones and are more than willing to rectify problems that are likely to affect their reputations. Reading some of the comments here you would think that Weatherseal was run by the Devil himself and that his mission was to deliberately do a bad job just to upset everyone. Inevitably when you order windows from weatherseal or any other large manufacturer you have to realise that there is a long chain of people involved in the process and if any one of them messes up (which they will at some point, just like you) things will "get off line". You cannot blame the company but you can rely on the company to do whatever needs doing in accordance with the contract you have with them.
Finally, people with an axe to grind, take up your issues with Weatherseal, if you have a valid case take it to them. Or is it that you are hell bent on robbing people of their jobs?

 Rob Wilton at 29th Nov 2007, 08:25PM
Well...where do I start? I am a previous employee of Weatherseal, and used to work at the Stockport branch. I was one of those irritating people who ring you up about "research" but I was a full time college student, and needed the money which wasn't bad when commission was included. So off Iwent, the training was an hour long granted you were only reading scripts off a screen, it wasn't proper training. So i did well for myself in the few months I was what was known as a 'biter' and from doing this I moved up in the world of Weatherseal to become a canvasser who spoke to existing customers and competition entrants in order to arrange free quotations. I was in for a shock. The data is all on a 6 week cycle...and is printed out on to sheets, so once you're on the database, the only way to be removed is to ring the head office number which is an 0870 number may I add! So if a customer wanted to be removed, the most you could do was cross them off the sheet, and htey'd get rang 6 weeks later when the next lot got printed! I could go on forever about the data, like how we were asked to keep a diary of people to call back which we were asked to take home with us, which is well against data protection. Not only that, when the big manager came down, all data which did not have the required date on it, was hidden in the ladies toilets even though it had expired by years. Weaherseal don't treat their customers right. Fact. But what i haven't noticed much on this forum, is mention of how disgutingly the treat staff. As a biter, if the centre wasn't doing well during a shift, we would all be asked to stand until we got a 'bite' which could have been for hours. Aswell as htis, the person with the least amount of bites was tld they had to do a dance in front of everyone at the end, and that nobody was allowed to leave until it was done. Exploitation don't you think? It was at this point where I piped up about the law, that the poorly trained manager panicked and let us go. I decided i no longer wanted to work for Weatherseal, especialy as since the new manager was in charge of the rotas, i kept being mispaid, so after fronting the issue with the administrative assistant, she said I'll put it on next weeks. This happened for a few weeks until i was finally paid what i was owed one week. Then the next week, i was 20 quid short, and asked for it to be put on my wage as i was going to go overdrawn. She was extremely unsympathetic, and didn't at all care about my situation, so again replied i can't do anything about until next weeks wage. After kicking off with her royally, witht eh involvement of my partner aswell, she agreed to giveme any spare bonuses on top of what was owed to me as an apology. So i settled for it, and next week....i got the extra bonus and the hours i worked....but no backlog of what i was owed!! It was at this point i decided to take matters further and spoke to the Citizens Advice Beurau. I'm currently taking Weatherseal to an employment tribunal due to how i was treated. I'm hoping to rinse them like they rinse everyone else in connection with them. If anybody wants any questions answering about the goings on of Weatherseal from an internal point of view, I will be mroe than happy to answer them. In the meantime....stay well away!!!

 dumdblondehan at 1st Nov 2007, 03:32PM
This company is extremely bad.

A sales consultant put a lot of pressure on me to sign up to a windows contract and take out finance on the windows as I couldn't really afford. The sales consultant mis led me on the rates of interest.

The next day after reviewing the papers I called up to cancel the agreement. I was advised that everything was cancelled and they would contact the finance company.

Instinct said to forward a letter to the finance company just incase, which I did.

The pre arranged installation date went buy and I heard nothing. Then all off a sudden about 6 weeks letter a legal letter tured up demanding the complete sum for the windows.

When I called the manager at weatherseal he said actually he had not cancelled anything because I didnt have cancellation rights because I had put in a request for a windows quote on there website.
There legal department also said its my problem and to pay up or they will pursue further action. I hadnt had any windows and as far as I was aware it was all cancelled. They were demanding money for what?

After I contact a legal adviser for advise they said that the letter I receieved from the finance company to say the finance was cancelled in time ment through the link agreement the contract was cancelled.

Please be careful I have never met such people in my life. They will try and make you sign up and lie to get any money out of you they can. What was more upsetting was the manager pretending to cancel the contract and waiting for a more than a month and then trying to scare you into paying them.

Just after I lost my job, I saw an ad on the jobcentre website. "Driver wanted, must have own transport. Average earnings 15000Pa". I thought, great. Phoned up, and was told they weren't actually looking for a driver, it was more sales oriented. So I thought why not, I need the money and it'll be something I've never done before. What a con job. I was sent to the weeklong training course in glasgow, and to be honest I got the impression that the glasgow team were very professional. Good team of guys and girls, all friendly and nicely dressed. Then back to edinburgh to try a few leads. My first lead I sat in with the boss to give me more training, and got the impression that it was quite easy. I should have had at least five of these training thingies, but my next lead was on my own. Fair do's I thought, I can handle it, I feel pretty confident. Drove the fifty miles there, only to be told by the guy that he didn't want anything and had told my boss that, but she sent me anyway. So I felt a bit let down, but never mind. There's always next time. So comes sunday, i'm sitting having an early dinner with the girlfriend, and I get a phonecall. I've got a lead for you, it's a dead cert but it's a bit further away. How much farther? Carlisle! Or 20 miles south of carlisle. And she gave me two and a half hours to get there. And the wrong address. Ended up getting there half an hour late to an empty house. Then there was the time I was given a lead on the other side of edinburgh, ten minutes before I was supposed to be there!

I wont babble on anymore, but suffice to say I gave them a choice of transferring me or me leaving. And they didn't transfer me.

I believe it is actually a good company, the product is very, VERY good, and the sales reps are very professional, but some of the managers are not that good at what they do.

 Munch at 21st Oct 2007, 04:18AM
Very annoyed with this company, I've cancelled an appointment I had with them four months ago by registered post and still they have been calling me daily for the last couple of weeks! And all i wanted was a quote! This is going into the newspapers, if they cant even do some honest business and compete like businesses should do then they shouldnt be out there anyway.
