this company installed a couple of windows in my house for the previous owners. The windows were installed in 1999 and they used 40mm long woodscrews to secure the frames to the brickwork. The windows became loose and as they were upstairs, it was a worry! coldseal went bust because they were awful and shoddy. their reputation is gone.

if they went into liquidation on the 3rd Feb 2004 and their representative made me sign a credit agreement dated 17th Feb 2004 with first national knowing full well that her company was in liquidation could this be classed as fraud. Also should First National have agreed my credit knowing that coldseal was in liquidation. Do i have a claim of recompense against First National

 colin2 at 16th Feb 2007, 07:48PM
windows and doors fitted in April 2004.back door locking mechanism has failed, windows whistle etc. Have just found out that they have been wound up. After looking around the internet have found out that they went insolvent on the 3/2/2004. WHY THEN did their representative come back to our house on the 17/02/2004 to finalise our credit agreement with first national. Surely this is fraud on their part especially when my wife had asked the sales representative that she had heard that they were going bust and the representative assured us that she knew nothing about this. Is my contract with first national legally binding then and why did first national approve my credit then with a insolvent company.

I bought some windows and doors from coldseal years ago and have had alot of trouble with them, i heard that another company had taken over them as i wanted to finish off house as trying to find similar windows to the one we have got has became a nightmare, i was wondering if i could claim on house insurance due to bad quality of product.
Does any one know of new company take over ?

 johnbrad123 at 7th Jan 2007, 11:18AM
Its fairly simple. Tell them to take a hike as the company is in breach of contract....no 10 year guarantee, no response to calls requesting service calls and a failure to rectify faults. The costs exceed any claim by them and you consider their letter harrassment.

The fact that Coldseal went bust justifies your claims as they cannot rectify any of your issues. Hell, make some up. If in doubt take legal advice

Yep - I got a letter from solictors for KPMG as well. I chased Coldseal for 6 months then gave up. It's now three and a half years since I last wrote to them. How long is it reasonable to expect private individuals to keep letters to companies like Coldseal?

 roskito at 11th Dec 2006, 11:56PM
Has anyone received a snotty letter from a solicitor representing KPMG (administrators for coldseal) ?

I has one asking for 3k for work carried out (or hould I say not carried out properly or completed) over 3 years ago. Nice supprise that the first thing I hear from Coldseal in 3.5 years is a letter saying court proceedings will be started in 7 days if bill not paid.

I told them I was more than happy to go to court and present the huge amount of evidence i have against Coldseal !!!! Waiting to hear back.

I can't believe that after all that these people have done to us, none of them have been disqualified from being company directors. Take a look & plug some names in:

http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk//ddir/dqfind.cgi

It's about time these people were stopped from doing this - how much evidence do you need?!

 allgonewrong at 26th Jul 2006, 05:01PM
alimel...Did you take out a finance agreement for the windows/doors? If so, you will find that the finance company is equally liable for any problems for the life of the agreement.

 sduffield at 5th Jul 2006, 02:19PM
Had ALL my windows and doors installed in 2002. Had to have them come out to adjust the back door because i was having trouble locking it. Yesterday i find that i cannot open my back door! Not only that, but my front windows are difficult to close, my bathroom window wont latch and my side window will not open at all because the button on the handle won't push in. So it's 30 degree's outside and i cant open a door or window to let some air in. GREAT> Does anyone know how to fix these problems as it seems i will have no joy with the '10 year guarentee'. Thanks.

Recently there has been an advertisment on my local radio station for a company called Everseal. Does anyone know if this company has any connections to the infamous Coldseal? Just be very very careful folks this company might be genuine but please check throughly before placing any orders or parting with any money.

 ironman at 9th Jan 2006, 09:19PM
I have just came across this site and have found it very interesting because my parents had some work done by Coldseal and they must have been one of the lucky ones because there windows are ok, and now i am in the market for some new windows and doors but after reading this site i see that you have to be so careful when it comes to double glazing companies. I have had a company round from harrow Omega i think he was the worst man i have ever meet in my life he was full of it. My husband had to tell him to leave in the end. I have also been in contact with a company called Senic Windows can anyone tell anything about this company, I just donâÂ?Â?t want to get my fingers burnt like the people on this site

Dear all customers / users of Coldseal Windows

I'm expericencing a high level of calls on my business phone (01332 757171) asking for Coldseal Windows.

Unfortunately I cannot help! Upon my request for a new number from BT I seem to have landed one of their old numbers resulting in a large number of disatisfied customers calling asking for the infamous coldseal window company!

Can anyone give me a forwarding contact name/ number I can pass on to these people.

Anyone who does wish to call the above number will now get Independent Financial Adivce, which I promise will be a better service and hopefully around for longer than the fore mentiond company!!!

Hi ldvaux. If you have the Goldcard guarentee, then the plan would have been backed by First National finance. FN are equally liabe for any faults with the product/installation for as long as your finance is in place.

 sduffield at 21st Nov 2005, 12:34PM
Had windows and doors installed by Coldseal in 2003. Products should be guaranteed for 10 years under Goldcard guarantee. Patio door does not lock now and since Coldseal have gone into liquidation, where do I stand with this guarantee? I have received no information about who owns this company now or whether the guarantee is still valid. I fear not!. Please e-mail me if you have any information that might help. Thanks
