I am a professional and have rented from Parklane in the past. I received good customer service and had no issues with the company at all. I received my bond back once I returned all my bills and feel their process is simple and easy to understand.

In am thoroughly surprised that a company with such professional looking offices and high fees can be so unprofessional and disorganised.

When the day came to move into the property i was to rent from this agent my housemates and i were queuing outside the office for absolutely ages with loads of other people attemping to get their keys. As a result i had to hire the removel van i had hired for an extra day as i was so late getting it back.

Upon moving into the house we compiled a list of all the things wrong with the house ie the tumble dryer wouldn't work etc. When we moved out 12 months later these problems were still left unsolved despite the excessive rent and large bond we were paying to the agents.

Each time we enquired about the repairs we needed we were told they had no record of our complaints.

There was a mix up with the standing order my parents had set up to pay my rent to Parklane and my rent was paid twice one month. My mother never checks her statement so she didn't notice and Parklane sure didn't inform us so they had almost £300 of my parents' more than they should have but made no attempt to inform us of this fact.
There is nothing to say that had i not noticed the money would ever have been returned.

SInce moving out of the property my housemates and i have made numerous enquiries as to when we'll receive out £300 bond owed to each of us. Various people in PL's office have specified dates "you'll definately have it be the 9th" - no bond. "you'll get it by wednesday, certainly" - no bond.

Calls my mother has made in an attempt to speak to the manager are always passed around and statements such as "out of the office" "not currently available" etc etc etc are made time and time again.

I cannot stress how much hassle renting through this agent has caused me and my parents.

I moved to Leeds in 2003 to go to university. Park Lane did impress me at first they seemed professional if a little arrogant. Now I realise what a fool I was. The flat was tiny, the rent was disgusting. We had mould in the bathroom, a rat problem that wouldn't go away and when you called them they were just plain unhelpful and rude on the phone. The flat door wouldn't open on the first day we got there. We got so upset and fed up when it came to renew the contract we said that we would move out, they kept turning up unannounced and would barge in to show people around. I quit uni and moved home as soon as the contract was up. I am now in the process of buying a house, I won't even consider renting a place again after my experience with this company! Students especially need to avoid them.. they will add further stress to an already daunting experience!

This company is the most unprofessional - and the rudest I've ever dealt with.

The Assistant Manager swore at my son when he went to pick up his key - in front of other clients - and said he didn't care about Customer Service because they didn't need it.

The Lettings Manager was extremely arrogant when I tried to sort out a situation concerning paperwork I hadn't signed but they'd never sent out.

One person tells you one thing on the phone but when you get to the office they deny all knowledge, basically inferring that you are lying - make sure you take a name if you ring them.
My sympathies to one young girl in the office who did try to help us. The Lettings Manager was as rude to her as he was to us!

My son's university is now recommending that students rent from other companies because of the amount of complaints they've had about Park Lane.

I'm a professional landlord (with 7 properties in total), and I have had so many problems with Park Lane Properties. The chap whop seems to run the company is very arrogant, and often quite rude.

They never seem to return the deposit to tenants (the 3 properties I had with them, the tenants called me to ask for their deposit back - not sure quite how they got my number), rent is often paid late, with the usual excuse that the tenant has not paid.

I would be very careful with them, there are other more reputable companies out there who you can use (I now have all seven properties with another agency with no problems at all).

I rented a property from Parklane for 8 months and found them to be one of the least professional letting agents I have ever rented through.

My major complaint was that an en suite shower did not work, I reported this in late December and it was still not rectified in late March when I left. In spite of taking temerature readings to prove the shower did not work they said the water temperatures were fine which was a blatant lie as they were less than body heat even after running the boiler for over two hours.

When requesting compensation for loss of use of the shower I was told they had responded to the complaint as quickly as possible (even though 3 months after the initial complaint the shower was still not working.)I was also told it was not an issue as I had access to the main shower which strikes me as like a car dealer trying to sell you a car with a broken door and saying you can still get into the car through the other side.

Two months before the end of my tenancy I informed the manager I was buying a property but would not be completed before the end of the lease and would be interested in extending it by a few months. We agreed to discuss it later. One month before the end of the tenancy when I had a better idea of how long I wanted to extend it by I called the manager who advised the flat had already been let to other tenants two weeks after I had talked to him. When I complained and pointed out they were about to make me homeless and had not notified me someone else was interested in the flat they just said this was standard procedure.

The return of my deposit was sent to a temporary address I managed to find after they effectively made me homeless. However I had informed them a week and a half earlier that I was no longer at this address and they had confirmed this. When I asked them to cancel the cheque and reissue it to my new address they said there would be a charge and refused to pay this even though it was their error.

When the cheque arrived £70 had been deducted for cleaning in spite of the fact that the flat was left spotlessly clean when I left.

Overall Parklane gave me the impression they are only interested in the quick buck and have no interest in customer satisfaction. One of the worst customer services I have ever experienced.

I have been renting properties since I was 18 (when I came to Leeds 4 years ago)

Parklane were by far the most professional agency we have rented with. They have fantastic offices in the heart of Headingley (what a cool place to live!!)
Parklane are by far the most organised and efficient agency in Headingley. (We went to every agency and big Landlord in Headingley before deciding on our yard)

They have flash touchscreens in their windows and have the biggest choice of properties in Headingley and Hyde Park. They are not the cheapest, but the quality is the best.

Our house (in 3rd year) and my current flat in 4th year (photo shown) were the best places we have stayed. Whenever we had a problem we called them up and they dealt with us quickly.

I would recommend that you see lots of houses before you decide where you want to live. When you find a nice yard......dont just sign up.....look at the Agent/Landord\\\\\\\'s set up....if they look shabby......they will be shabby!!! Trust me I know from experience. Good luck.

These people are basically lazy. I moved into a property which almost immediately had a rat problem. I rang them, they said it was in my own interests to sort myself. They continously enter the property without notice and each time have made a mess of my living area - mud, etc everywhere. Any problems take months and constant calls to fix - they're a shambles.

This agency, which lets mostly to students and young professionals, is run by an arsehole and employs monkeys. I still get letters from them, four years since vacating their property, demanding rent arrears and threatening court action. I write back informing them (with evidence) that I have paid my rent in full, but they continue to issue the letters. Curiously they never actually take the court action - could this be because they are in the wrong and are just trying to hassle money out of me? My tenancy with them was also a very unpleasant experience. They would send builders round to do work without ever informing me, and they would issue demands to my surity without ever coming to me first. They're not professionals, they're not nice, but they are arseholes. Stear clear.
