These people have been at it for years. I spent the best part of £12,000 with these people on a full restoration project ( the full project cost £20,000 ). They assured me I would have it within 3/4 months , so I paid in stage payments but it took them well over 18 months to deliver. They blew the engine up ( ran it without any oil ) so I have to replace it with a purpose build unit from MED. When I finally got the car it broke down twice within 5 miles and despite the so called full bodywork restoration, there was rust and corrosion all over it, truly shocking. I hit them with the prospect of immediate legal action and after a lot of threatening I finally got the bodywork sort of corrected but I had to finish it myself. Avoid these people at all costs, they really are a shocking bunch of cowboys, the worst you'll find anywhere . If you're looking for a Mini seek out your local Mini Club or you can contact me on mini.classic@yahoo.co.uk for advice.

I can second these comments. It all sounds too familar. I brought a K reg mini cooper from this company in May this year. I know nothing about these cars so thought i'd go to a specialist, and the 12 month guarentee sounded as if they were fully condfident about the cars they are selling. However, It has broken down twice, both times it has been a nightmare to get them to accept the car back.I have now had it inspected by The Mini Centre in Heybridge who are very good by the way, only to find that the car has 16 serious faults on it (including those that it had previously gone back to Henley for), and should never have passed an mot in it's current condition. I was also told it was worth only half what I paid for it! Do not touch this company unless you want a headache.

Hi, I have had a very similar experience with Henley Classic Mini's. Please do not go anywhere near them. I brought a mini for 3500.00 only to be told by another garage that is is only worth about 1500.00 max. in the poor condition that it's in. When I got the car I ran out of petrol on a very busy dual carriage way, almost causing a serious accident. The petrol gauge showed half full - so obviously wasn't working. When it rained the car filled up in the bottom with water, as although it was a condition of sale that the sills were to be renewed, they were simply patched on the outside and not even present on the inside. I had a oil leak, the music player didn't work, the wipers on the front window did not work properly, the exhaust was so rusty that it had holed and was blowing, etc. However the car had a brand new MOT??
I reported the car to Henley mini's as it was under guarentee, 4 weeks later they accepted it back, they told me it would only take a couple of days, two weeks later I finially got my car back.

Then low and behold, my car broke down again last month, I took it to a very good Mini Centre in Heybridge who discovered 16 serious faults on it, including those that the car had already gone back to Henely for and I been assured they had fixed. Plus whilst putting some shopping in the boot of the car I put my had through the bottom of the boot and badly cut it.I contacted Henley Minis who told me that they consider the faults to be general wear and tear expected of a 15 year old car!! I am still trying to get them to sort the car out or refund the money and take the car back. I do not hold out much hope, view www.minifinity.com to find out why.

I bought a K reg Mini Cooper 1.3i for £3500 from Henley Classic Minis in February 2005. When I rang to collect it they said there was much more work to do than they first thought, which would cost a lot more money to them. They made it seem that I should be paying more for this, but as the price had been set they could't argue.

I went to pick up the car, and when my partner pointed out there was still some rust on the sills, the guy said there had been a lot of work done on it; and went on to explain the amount of work that had been done.
I took it home that night and found the rear window heater didn't work, along with some other minor things.
About 2 months later my battery kept dying; so I asked a couple of mechanics , who said it was the alternator. When I rang Henley Classic Minis, they were very sceptical, but took it in and said they would repair it, which they did; but it took a few more days than they said it would.

About 2 months after that I was driving over a roundabout when the steering wheel locked. I was lucky I didn't crash. Again I asked a couple of mechanics who said is was the steering wrack or column. When I rang Henley Classic Minis, again they were very doubtful; but said the would come and pick it up to look at. They took a number of days to do this even though it was under warranty.
It took me a month to get my car back. First of of all they told me they couldn't find anything wrong with it! This is despite the fact I was told by 3 different mechanics it was dangerous to drive. Then they said they would repair it anyway!
I rang numerous times only to be told it was being done tomorrow. Very frustrating, especially when its under warranty.
Since then, which has been about 2 months,Everything has been going ok. I really hope nothing else goes wrong with it before the warranty is up.

I was under the impression they were a caring firm, really into minis. I was disappointed.

The guy who owns this company is a cowboy, his cars arent classic they are wrecks, we paid £3350 for a classic mini cooper, after one day and 20 miles the car failed to start. he refuses to take the car back and refund the money. after doing a search on the web on this company, we found this article from feb this year, about a young woman who brought a car from him... it is evry interesting as its exactly the same position as we are in now... have a read....
Dangerous Car Lands Dealer Hefty Fine
A Henley-on-Thames based car dealer is £6,800 out of pocket, after the Courts found him guilty of selling a car to a Bexley woman that was unroadworthy to the point of being dangerous.

Alan Tozer, trading as Henley Classic Minis, in Oxfordshire, was fined £2,000 by Bexley Magistrates last Thursday (29 January). He was also ordered to pay £2,800 compensation to the woman who had bought the car and costs of £2,000 to Bexley Council.

Early last year, the 19-year-old woman purchased a 1992 Mini from Mr Tozer. She paid £2,500 for the car and bought it without inspection or seeing it, until it was delivered on 19 March 2003.

Although Mr Tozer had described the car as being in very good condition and suitable for motorway driving, it turned out to be dangerous and unroadworthy. Mr Tozer would not take the car back, so the purchaser contacted Bexley Council's Trading Standards Team for advice.

After having the car examined and investigating the complaint, Trading Standards officers decided to prosecute Mr Tozer for offences under the Road Traffic and Trade Descriptions Acts. Although he denied the offence, he was found guilty on both counts.

A Bexley Trading Standards spokesperson advises: "Don't buy a second-hand car or hand over any money, without having the vehicle independently inspected."

If we had knwo this guy was such a blagger we would not of gone near him.... PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BUY A CAR FROM HIM
