the store manager in aylesbury branch is unbelieveable and shocking! i am horrified by how the black staff are being treated, they are not only being left to train themselves but when it comes to a meeting about their training they are then told that their training is not good enough and lose their job! they are also stealing money from their staff by changing clock out times to them arriving late and finishing early so they then get paid less. when confronted by the staff member they turned around and said that was right and there is nothing they can do as i clock does not lie. but when staff clock in themselves it shows up in black and when changed by managers it shows red and all the ones that said i was late and left early were in red, so how is that right? The store managers are racist and had no intention in employing me full time but just used me until somebody better came along! absolutely disgusting! From a angry homebase employee

One would think companies as large as Homebase would have simple training in place that would allow staff to know how to answer a ringing phone.
I wanted to make a simple enquiry about a garden product. I called my local store but the phone rang and rang. One might think they are simply really busy, however the staff member at Homebase picked up the call and put the phone straight down, i presume to stop the phone from ringing. I tried two more times, only to find the same pattern of behavior. What terrible service and regard for paying customers!!!

I then thought i would try and call a different Homebase store all be it a bit further for me to travel to. Guess what? Yes really the same pattern of behaviour, I'm holding the phone and its ringing and ringing whilst one of the Homebase members of staff pick up the call and put it straight down.

I called head office to complain and there it seems people are aware that a ringing phone should be answered.

This was the first time i have actively tried shopping at Homebase as I've always found my rare short trips in to the stores an off putting experience. Normally i go to B & Q as I've always got the impression they now what they are doing, well most of the time anyway. Seems my instincts about Homebase were well founded.

If you are looking for customer service don't expect any from Homebase employees.

Been doing the house up and purchasing quite a bit from varying stores depending on the bargains on offer. Went into the milton keynes branch and purchased narly 500.oo worth of products including charles hoover. Was going to buy a bed also but when realised how much adding up to thought to think on it even though they had offered ten precent off due to not getting to me withing the two mins button for help, which entitles you apparantly to discount.

Anyhow no problems got shop home and later realised half of charles as in accessories was not in the box. Bit peed off but realised not homebases fault. Turned up a few days later and they to cover the cost of the taxis gave me a further discount on the new charles a 15.00 approx refund. Lovely.

So happy at kind gesture, decided to look at the bed again and go ahead with purchase. Thought damm, I should have bought if a few days ago and would have got the discount for as above not responding in two mins, the store target apparantly. Spoke to the same lady who was lovely remembered me and said we will still honor it. Again lovely service.

So had bed delivered and ontime. Saved lots of money and taxis for getting to them for exchanging charles refunded. Now I shouldnt have been entitled to the ten percent discount on the bed, but because of their good service, that is where I will go next time.

As you will notice on a blagger previous to this for b and q, I have bought quite a bit, in fact been breaking the bank it feels. But all that is needed for customer wanting to come back, is politeness and courtesy and you get my vote. If rude and talked down to by a representative on maybe just a bad day, but in any case aimed at me, I will go elsewhere.

Thanks this time to homebase. All the peices were in the box for bed another bug bear of mine, when peices are missing from flat packs, but wasnt a problem and daughter sleeping well xxx

Has anyone else had faulty Everest worktops delivered? We took a delivery last week and when the fitter had finished and was wiping them off he saw what appeared to be manufacturing faults across each of the 3 worktops. What amazes me is that we can't be the only people to have been sent faulty worktops. All three of them are marked in the same place.

I find Homebase give excellent customer service. There garden centre staff are second to none in out of the DIY sheds. I am often in my local Homebase at Branksome and the staff say hello and also ask is there anything I can help you with. I bought the some Homebase multi purpose compost which the staff went and got a trolley for me loaded it and took it to my car and loaded the car for me. Unfortunately they would not come with me to unload it the other end. The compost is compressed in the bag so it fits in my boot no problem. Any horticultral questions and the garden staff are excellent and if they dont know the answer they will find out for you and if you cant wait they will even call you at home. It is advisable not to go on a weekend though as does get busy and not always enough staff around. Any plant reductions are done on a Monday so a good day to go for bargins!
