If you are thinking of buying a new kitchen do not buy from rock solid kitchens aka kitchen dreams direct aka kitchens direct. We bought our kitchen in June, and had arranged delivery date in July. Surprise, surprise, not all parts have been delivered - doors, handles, some parts were even not for our kitchen (different colour etc.) and some parts were not the right size. So, we called them and asked for the right stuff to be delivered and the wrong stuff to be taken away. We were told that the stuff we were missing would be delivered within 20 days. 20 days came and went and we received nothing. We called them to ask where the stuff was and were told that the order has not been logged on the system. After some hassling they promised the missing parts would be delivered next week. Next week came and went and again nothing. So we called them again only to be told that while the stuff was with the driver, the driver could not be bothered to drop it off. So two months on, and we still do not have what we need and we do not hold much hope that we will! Their customer service is appalling, while you are bing polite they are shouting at you telling you to stop shouting, stop giving them attitude and telling you are being rude to them! Trust me, we had this lady on the speaker while talking to her so we could hear both sides of the conversation and we could not believe what she was saying! They were also on Watchdog! Really really bad company...we tried to look them up on the internet at the time we were deciding to buy it but only Rock Solid kitchen come up on google as being "blaggered", the others do not and as we bought from Dream Kitchens direct, we got caught! I did not know about blagger.com then but I do now so will make sure that I do my research before I buy...
"WARNING KEEP AWAY"
Well I have never had my money refunded nor will rsk reply to my letters or e mail, but out of the blue I got a call from trading standards to ask me if the company have put matters right.
It turns out that rsk are going to court in a month or so due to all the complaints trading standards have received.I do hope they get everything they deserve.
Do not use this company! My grandma purchased a kitchen from this company earlier this year and she still hasn't got the kitchen she paid good money for... she's tried calling but they just put the phone down on her. My mum even called them out to give a quote on a kitchen and as soon as they saw my mum and gran they drove off and said we had already bought a kitchen from them, then refused to speak to them. I did some research on RSK and both Vance Miller and Alan Ford who are linked to this company or are named as directors have been in trouble with trading standards for fraud. Warrington Trading standard issued a warning about Alan Ford following a court hearing and Vance Miller has even been to prison and boosted on how much he enjoyed it and thanked his customers for sending him there.
We recently had some contact from Rock Solid Kitchens saying we could have another kitchen with doors missing and the oven missing but my gran could keep the one she originally got aswell to make up for it(also half a broken kitchen) but funnily enough we refused - we're not a storage company for Rock Solid's knock off kitchens.
During the past few months we have contacted our local newspaper and advised of who Rock Solid Kitchens are and its background and they have now pulled out all adverts for this company and warned other papers. The only way this company is going to be stopped from conning other people out of thier honest, hard earned cash is by other people who have been ripped off spreading the word! Contact your local newspapers or advertising companies and tell them about Rock Solid Kitchens!
We have been making substantial progress in highlighting who Rock Solid Kitchen really are and what they do - watch this space Rock Solid Kitchens!
i ordered a kitchen from Rock Solid late last year due to financial commitments i was not in a position to have it delievered when i first expected in october they were really good rang me every few weeks to see if i was ready for the kitchen. unfortunatly my order was affected by the fire and i was told it would take up to 4 weeks to get it to me, they offered to send out someone to see if there was an alternative kitchen which would be suitable, i was able to choose a more expensive kitchen for the same price, i used the fitters recomended by Rock Solid who were really good the kitchen was fitted in one day, one of the worktops was damaged but one of the fitters simply drove to the warehouse and collected another one, i'm really please after being worried sick after reading all the negative press about the company, my kitchen looks amazing and at only £1200 for the kitchen and fitting it was an amazing price.
Please do not use this company they are so frustrating and rude. They delivered a day and a half late, which meant I had to take more time off work. There was just the driver of the van to carry everything up all the stairs and he managed to chip a chunk off one of the cabinets. Then with the install we seemed to have recieved other peoples parts, which had nothing to do with my kitchen. I then had missing one 1000 base unit, two doors and two handles. I have tried calling for and this is no lie 6 hours - yes 6hours non stop - to get through to the customer service team. I gave in and called the Sales team who was so increadably rude and snapped at me, then hung up on me! I have emailed but nothing back. If anyone has given a deposit my advice is write it off and go else where do not do not use RSK. I am fuming at work and one of my collegues piped up and said she wished she had known I was going to use them as she had in the past and they were rude, and after months of trying she still never ever received her missing bits. My advice is - do not use them, if you have given a deposit kiss it goodbye as you will just waste more money, if you use them then try to have sent through to you what they will deliver - they wouldn't give me that information. You are better off going to other companies. Never ever use them, life is tooo short
I recieved my Kitchen from this company
back in April, and having unpacked all the parts my kitchen fitter informs me there are bits missing, wrong size doors at least 10 pieces are incorrect.Having trying to contact the firm for at least a week during the week they had the fire
i was just told someone will be there tommorrow, well i kept trying and eventully got to speak to someone days later who told me id hear within 21 days regarding my missing parts, ive paid good money here and not recieved the goods, its very upsetting and making me so stressed,a half finished kitchen no call from this company whats going on?
I ordered a lovely kitchen from this company in April 09, due to the fact that the designer was soo amazing and listened to our every need when designing our kitchen, the quality seemed superb and the prices even better ! We paid a £200 cash deposit, we had the kitchen delivered and fitted last week, and even though this was a week later than anticipated due to their fire, we are overjoyed with everything ! I think there were some screws missing, but our fitter easily bought some locally and we have saved soo much money ! I would recommend them to anyone ! Annie100
I ordered my kitchen and a sink and toilet for our en-suite just before this "fire". I thought it was some realy bad excuse until i googled maple mill fire. Anyway we managed to get in touch with someone from the company and he was very honest and said our kitchen would be a couple of weeks late. Well it arived on friday, and its being fitted now, and their were a few hinges missing so mhy fitter just went and got them from b&q. Job done, maybe this fire has helped this company turn over a new leaf??? i dont know because this ismy first expeiriance with them, and it wont be the last with the prices and quality of their kitchens and bathrooms.
A question. Further to my previous post re this company can anyone tell me how I can now get my bits of missing kitchen delivered and any form of compenastion when the place has burned down?! I would be greatful if anyone has any suggestions or help they can give, especially anyone from Rock solid as I know you check this site out
DO NOT USE!!! We have been unfortunate enough to have dealt with this company. Luckily we have only lost £200 this time, not like the £2000 we lost with MFI but thats another story!! Our kitchen was due to be delivered on 27th April and after several phone calls, many of which went unanswered we were given confirmation at least 6 times that our kitchen had left the depot and would be with us between 8am and 8pm. After waiting in all day, our kitchen never arrived, after ringing several times the next day and promised call back after call back which we never received, i finally spoke to someone who advised me that due to a fire our kitchen was never down for delivery the previous day, so basically the staff just lied to us. I have never dealt with a company with such terrible customer service. I have cancelled my order with them, not that i think it was ever coming now, and have gone to b and q instead. I am trying to get my deposit back, however I can't say I'm very hopeful. If anyone is thinking of using this company, please don't, you'll waste your money and your time. Avoid at all costs!
This lot should be avoided at all costs. We ordered a kitchen which did indeed turn up on time and not at midnight. There are so many things missing/wrong like only 3 out of 13 shelves delivered. Wrong handles, wrong taps, no end panels, wrong oven housing, no drawers for the drawer unit, no pilot holes drilled for the door hinges. the list goes on. When the driver was made aware of the missing bits when he delivered we were told they would be sent by courier in 2 days. Mmmm! Yes I agree that often only bad things are put on these sites but when there is only bad to say what else can you do? On top of all this we have now had to pay for a carpenter to sort out all the problems. We have tried for 2 and a half weeks to speak to someone at Rock solid to sort this, as yet we have spoken to no one despite emailing them and writing to them and ringing them, only to be spoken to by extremely rude and unhelpful staff who tell you to write in or email as they cannot help you. All in all a shocking company to deal with . My advice? spend a bit more and go to Ikea! at least even if things are wrong you would be able to sort them out. Don't touch this lot with a barge pole, and dont give them any of your hard earned money. You get what you pay for in life and with this lot that is absolutely true!
i have just seen a news item where the headquarters of rock solid has just burned down. if the owner was so bad he'd just take what money he had and run, but he hasn't. he's lost millions in an uninsured fire and he's just carrying on as if it was just another daily problem. Fair play to him. In the interview he said if you've paid a deposit, you'll get your kitchen, he just hopes people will understand that it might just take a little bit longer.…. And it’s not just an excuse. Google “maple mill fire, Oldham”
This company should noy be allowed to operate. I had a sales man call to my house, he designed a lovely and very affordable kitchen. I handed over my €500.00 deposit and guess what four months on still no kitchen. I have lost count the amount of unanswered emails and calls, i have even threanted with local papers and the uk watchdog and still nothing. Seeking legal action at this stage would just be more hassle then they are worth. The people working for this company should be very asshamed, taking peoples money and then vanishing. My advice stay well clear. Any company dealing only with cash have something to hide.
I sent a recorded delivery letter to the company, guess what, no such address, it went anyway so lets see what happens, i wonder if anyone has actualy been to the address and what they found, please let me know
I wish i had looked at this site before i ordered my kitchen, had a rep out, agreed a kitchen at a good price, paid £200 deposit, had a phone call, did we want them assembled for a further £75, we said yes, kitchen arrived, some of it was assembled, but not the big difficult ones with no instructions, when we unpacked, there was some missing, some damaged and totaly unusable. We have not been able to get any reply from the company, send 9 letters, umpteen emails and still nothing, i have now involved the Trading Standards who have already hundreds of complaints about the company, plus i have put in with a legal company. If anyone is reading this please do not use ROCK SOLID KITCHENS, they are trouble.
Would you pay for a car then check later to see if it had wheels? After reading some of the negative comments on here all i can say is that if you're going to spend 1000’s of pounds it would be an idea to check that everything is there when its delivered and THEN hand over your money!! I did exactly that and admittedly, although everything was there, two of the doors were damaged, which i didn't spot before i paid, and it did take 3 weeks to get them replaced,(but as it took 5 weeks from order to delivery i wasn't expecting them to be replaced the next day)I also had some handles missing on final fitting count, so i bought them myself.
All in all i am over the moon with my kitchen. The quality is the same but It cost less than half of what B & Q quoted and have you read the complaints about their customer service? and the other kitchen companies on here?
When you're buying a product made up of so many different components, it seems that all kitchen companies have problems with orders from time to time.
After taking into account the amount of money Rocksolid saved me, I would recommend them to anyone with a little common sense about how they spend their money
I bought a kitchen from this company myself earlier this year, It didn't go perfectly smooth, but nowhere near the horror stories ive been reading and i've got to say the finished job looks unbelievably good! my advice is whatever company you go with just make sure to check your order. almost every company i had quotes from has bad reviews on different sites, so i can only presume that deliveries of kitchens from any company at all must be prone to problems. thorough checking of your delivery must surely help to identify problems early on and cut down on problems later.
i had a terrible experience with this company.i ordered a white gloss kitchen and they sent me wooden carcasses which may well be more expensive but is not what i ordered further more it took them 6 days to send the replacement white ones and when they did they said that because of space on the van i would have to keep the wooden ones aswell so now i have around 7 wooden units that i never ordered. on top of all of that i didn't even get the oven that i wanted because it was out of stock the man on the phone said they would send me the updated more expensive model for no extra cost which they did but still it wasn't the one stated on the original order. i have got more stuff than i paid for and nowhere to put it avoid this company.
I've not had problems. I had a cheap kithen about 2 years ago and had no problems, and have since moved, and replaced the existing council kitchen. In total ive spent about £3850 i think for both kitchens, the second being the cheaper of the two and had none of the problems people are blagging about.
I have read all the comments a few days after ordering my kitchen, and i was worried that the same thing that had happened to other people would happen to me, however this wasnt the case. I recieved delivery of the kitchen last monday, and the driver was very helpful of getting the kitchen into my house and i ran through the entire order with him and everything was spot on except one door was missing, i sent an email and fax to the customer services department and i got a phone call back on wednesday i explained to the lady that i was missing one door for my wall units and they said fine its being couriered out to you and you should have it with you within the next 4-6 days and i recieved the door this morning my brother came round and put it on the final unit and my kitchen looks fantastic !!!
Just had our kitchen delivered by rsk and after reading all this on here about the company i ,must admit i worried so i rang up and asked if someone could call me back to go through my order with me son i knew exactly what i was getting. I got a call back from a polite young man who went through everything with me. Still a little bit un-sure to be honest but i stuck with got my delivery date and sure enough i get a phone call from thedriver who said he was 2 hours away. Well i wont go into all the details, we checked the order as it came off the van, and it was all there oh and so was the fitter the very next day. Ive got a kitchen thats added thousands onto my house and it cost me just over 1 thousand. In think they do a great job to be honest and the designer has made my kitchen look great. Also me and my wife chose the wrong colour for our worktop, so i asked if we could just exchange it and they said no probs.
From the experience I had with 'Rock Solid' I have no idea what other people on this site are talking about. My designer was a lovely woman, my delivery went according to plan and my new kitchen which is now fully fitted really is something special. I got the whole lot for £2250 including appliances and oak worktops which are things I could not have afforded from anywhere else. I have had problems with many companies over the years but this certainly was not one of them. If what other people on here are saying is true then I guess it proves that with any company sometimes things go perfectly and sometimes you have issues to resolve.Thumbs up from my point of view.
Steer well clear of Rock Solid.I paid my £200 in december and guess what? Yes after 3 months no kitchen no refund and no contact, the company just hang up when called.I have written to the company recorded delivery and still no reply so now I have informed trading standards and I will post my out come in time.I found this site when it was too late.
I too have just ordered a kitchen from RSK, after losing our order and our money at the collapse of MFI. Having lost £3000, we needed to find a cheap kitchen and RSK gave us a quote for basically the same kitchen we ordered with MFI FOR £1000 cheaper. So far we have been pleased with the service, the rep wasn't at all pushy, however dealing in cash has got me worried and after reading some of these reviews I am now petrified that something is going to go wrong again, however the only positve is that we have only parted with £200 and will not be handing over any more cash until every hinge has been checked and we are happy the order is correct. Thats if it turns up!! Here's hoping........
Help - I am worried planner came around yesterday and designed and prices kitchen - all looked great and in budget so I handed over my deposit and was happy - until today when I googled and found all the negative posts about this company - I am in panic mode - suggestions ?
